The Ultimate Covenant of God Chapter Three

Chapter Three

Paul’s Understanding of the New Covenant

Paul the writer of the book of Hebrews I find that his definition of the New Covenant shades much light on understanding the prophetic prophecy of the prophets Jeremiah, Joel, and Ezekiel and the promise that God made for the House of Israel and the House of Judah. For you will find that Paul relates all the way back in the Old Testament scriptures with the covenant with Abraham and even the scriptures about Melchizedek. I bring up Melchizedek for this point of logic about Jesus’ and His superiority over all the priesthood in both the Old and New Testaments.

Recorded in the pages of the Holy Scriptures about Melchizedek is very brief and yet we understand according to the scriptures that he was a priest of the Most High God Genesis 14:18-20. It is after a battle of which Abraham was victorious, Melchizedek came and blessed Abraham. Before we go any further it would be well to consider what Paul writes in Hebrews 7:1-3 about Melchizedek.

“For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham, returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning, “king of peace,” without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Sod of God, remains a priest continually” (Hebrews 7:1-3 NASB)

It is in Hebrews 8 through 10 that we find the New Covenant as well as Jesus priestly ministry and what Paul also relates as a better promise. For Paul begins by saying that we have a High Priest before the Throne of God a High Priest that also has something to offer Hebrews 8:1-3. What is interesting is what Paul states in the next text of scripture “Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those offer gifts according to the law.” (Hebrews 8:4 NASB) First we need to ask was Jesus qualified to serve as an earthly priesthood in order to serve the New Covenant according to the Law of Moses. There are some who would think that He was however is this true according to this text of scripture. Therefore, let us reason together for in the day and time Jesus walked upon this earth there were plenty of them qualified to serve in the priesthood according to the Law of Moses.

During the days of Moses sacrifice for sin was essential in the concept of the priesthood. Paul also makes it clear that the one who serves the heavenly things was a shadow or copy of the things on this earth. However, we must also remember that Jesus is the only one qualified to serve in the heavenly kingdom as Priest. The earthly priesthood and service, though it was in the eyes of man, tells us of a heavenly Temple in which our Lord is the High Priest.

Paul the writer of Hebrews in Hebrews 8 through 10 is now bringing forth the main point of logic regarding our High Priest and our Mediator in the kingdom of God. Jesus our Priest and Mediator which now reigns and serves in the true tabernacle or sanctuary which the Lord God Almighty erected in the kingdom of God. Furthermore, when you study the Holy Scriptures you will find that those who were appointed to be high priest was appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices unto God to make atonement for their sins Jesus our Lord and Mediator of a better covenant is the work of receiving God’s New Covenant as the law written within the heart.

What is Written About the New Covenant?

The question stated above that addresses many questions today by Israel, the church, and the last days regarding the spiritual conflict over what goes on in the Body of Christ over the New Covenant is it the spiritual law of God or the grace of God. Again, I have spent time praying about the New Covenant and what to write because of this subject is so vast that I have to keep praying for guidance. One of the questions that keeps coming back into my mind am I and the Body of Christ walking in the New Covenant why or why not? The only honest answer that I can honesty answer is NO! Again, the Spirit of God said what many Christians, scholars, and theologians will have much discourse over the New Covenant and the conditions of the New Covenant between who is right.

When it comes right down to the real facts there has been much written by many writers on the subject of the New Covenant as well as many books. All of these writers address the New Covenant from many different points of view and it is out of these writers that all of us learn to interpret the New Covenant. God’s New Covenant is about restoration and pardon for the House of Israel, and the House of Judah Jeremiah 31:34. It is also about the law of the heart written within their inward parts and God will be their God and they will be His people Jeremiah 31:33. The Spirit of God gave unto me this understanding that it is also the transforming of the heart.

In addition, I have read much about the New Covenant in the last few months and the most that I can find relates back to the Old Covenant or the Mosaic Covenant. However, I do not read much about the Spirit of God being the main factor in the New Covenant Ezekiel 36: 26. My reasoning and understanding is in regards to this important fact about the Spirit of God for Israel, the church, and the last days if there is to be any transforming of the heart it cannot be done by man it must be done by the Spirit of God. Another thing the Spirit of God point out to my understanding was the New Covenant is also about provision for Israel, the church, and the last days. It also is about salvation, atonement, grace, we as the Body of Christ must take into consideration when we proclaim that we walk in the New Covenant.

Now when we look at foundation for what has been written in the Holy Scriptures about understanding its purpose of why God had to establish a New Covenant then we must seek out what God has written by the prophets and the apostles. Again, the Spirit of God makes clear that the New Covenant goes back to the covenant established with Abraham and all of his descendants for generations Genesis 17. Yet there is another part of the New Covenant we need to consider regarding Israel, the church, and the last days and that is how does the Body of Christ view the negative and positive of the New Covenant today. Does the Body of Christ consider the New Covenant as a relationship with the trinity of the Godhead in the New Covenant? There are many other questions concerning God’s New Covenant and this is just one of those questions? There are many other questions concerning God’s New Covenant and this is just one of those questions. Is the New Covenant the ultimate weapon for spiritual warfare today? Is the New Covenant the ultimate weapon for spiritual warfare today? My personal feeling and answer is yes.

Now in today’s modern world we see many disasters going on in the world everywhere, as well as wars between nations, ethnical conflicts, famines, earthquakes, and many more of these problems going we find in the prophetic word in Revelation 6. You will find more of this prophetic word recorded through the book of Revelation before the Second Coming of Christ and the Great White Throne Judgment. It is within such prophetic words of such things that we the Body of Christ should tremble and fear with what the Revelation of Jesus Christ states in the book of Revelation of the things that must come to pass. It is in the prophetic word of the book of Revelation that the members of the Body of Christ try to find ways to escape to understand the Revelation of Jesus Christ regarding Israel, the church and the last days.

This is just another part of the New Covenant that is state in Ezekiel 36:25-27 where the prophet states God’s words that “He will sprinkle clean water on you” Ezekiel 36:25 which to my understanding is of a two-fold meaning. The first is the sprinkling of clean water means that God is going to do the cleansing of the body of Jews and Gentiles. The second part of this sprinkling of water today is our baptism. However, the important fact that we the Body of Christ needs to address is what John the Baptist said about the coming of the Lord when John said I baptized with water but one cometh after me that will baptize you with fire Matthew 3:11. Therefore, it is in this context which is regarding the Spirit of God and its ministry of the New Covenant.

The Ministry of the Spirit of God

Now the ministry of the Spirit of God was also prophesies by the prophet Joel of which he stated that in the last days God would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh Joel 2:28. This prophetic word states to me that this is the ministry of the Spirit of God that will transform lives that young men will have visions and old men will dream dreams and our daughters shall prophesy. The Christian walk is a walk of faith from the time of their conversion until the day we go to be with the Lord. Remember this that at the day of your conversion the Spirit of God move into our life, and the transforming image of Christ began.

It is well to note that the extent of our spiritual transformation depends entirely upon how willing we are to let the Spirit of God do His ministry. However, it is also well to say this I believe that God does not require perfection for grace and salvation, like Paul did not attain perfection in this life; it was his goal in life to do so. Therefore, every member of the Body of Christ should make it our goal the same as Paul to reach that perfection at the day of the first resurrection Revelation 20:6.

This is the difference between the victorious and the defeated Christian and their walk in the New Covenant. The victorious Christian knows and understands their position of what the ministry of the Spirit of God is to be perfected in their life and not being perfected in their life. In addition, they know they can fail, however, when they do fail, they confess their sins, and allow the Spirit of God to minister the New Covenant of restoration in their life. When we consider logical the ministry of the Spirit of God it has a personal ministry with each of us whether Christian or non-Christian. I state this because the Spirit of God has the power to convict Christians as well as non- Christians to receive God’s transforming power over our sins.

Christians today have vastly misunderstood and underestimated the power of the Spirit of God. If we truly understood why God sent His Son to inaugurate His New Covenant and what the Holy Scriptures tells us about the New Covenant, we would never worry anymore about are walk of faith or our daily living. I state this because of what our Lord face when the tempter came and tempt Him in the wilderness Matthew 4:1-11. The point is that when Satan brings all of his spiritual warfare against us, we have the power in the Spirit of God to say “bring it on Satan!” Moreover, the power of the New Covenant in a Christian life Satan knows he has no power over that New Covenant of God’s Spirit. For greater is the New Covenant indwelling in us for it is the strength, wisdom, power. And provision of God that crushes the evil hand of Satan.

If there is one thing this pastor knows it is Satan wants us to feel guiltily, in addition, he wants us to feel that we have done no wrong, moreover, Satan wants us to admit to him that we have done no wrong. Let me address this thought in a different way. When we have done wrong, because it is emotion of guilt that tells us we have done wrong or wrongdoing Satan does not want that guilt leaving you or me. Furthermore, Satan wants to cloud our mind with guilt which includes shame so that he can keep us under that shame. If we fall into this trap of Satan, we are abusing God’s New Covenant as well as breaking it. Therefore, that is why that God has given to us the law of His heart written within our inward parts.

As members of the Body of Christ we must remember this important fact that Satan condemns, and the Spirit of God convicts. Therefore, there is a huge difference; however, it is often difficult to discern Satan condemnation verses the Spirit of God conviction as a new born babe in Christ Jesus. In today’s modern world there are different opinions between knowing something and experiencing something in the reality of life. I state this point to make this understanding about the New Covenant or the Ultimate Covenant o how Satan will use it against the Body of Christ. Yet it would be completely understandable if we stated New Covenant instead of stating Ultimate Covenant; however, when you state Ultimate Covenant it brings a whole new description and meaning as well as its characters to the New Covenant. Therefore, to what is being described is in this contrast of knowing something and experiencing something of God and Christ Jesus that brings eternal life in the New Covenant. Merely knowing about God’s New Covenant will leave you unlearned about the provision for life in the New Covenant. Of course, you have those individuals who seemingly understand that the Holy Word of God and proclaims that it contradicts itself and furthermore that it is hard to understand.

What is the meaning of the New Covenant?

When we look at the old covenants and in what it pertains to in each covenant, I find that they all require faithfulness to the law, however, when you read about the New Covenant it still makes its requirement or preference to the law of God which is now today the law of the heart indwelling in mankind. Moreover, in the old covenants they carried out strict words that clearly stated the need for faithfulness to perform what God required and those who were not faithful or did not fulfill their part meant they have reacted on their own rule of the covenant. To this understanding we can only consider when we react on our own rule in the New Covenant, we are abusing it or breaking it and therefore by the Word of God it is punishable by His Divine and Holy law of His Holy Words.

If you are a student of the Holy Scriptures you know the covenants of God involved faithfulness not grace. Note this fact regarding God and God’s covenants that once He makes a covenant it is out of His judgment, His statute which means that His concern is with the fact that we walk with willingness and with the highest regards for carrying out His covenant that He has made. Throughout all of the covenants God has made I find nowhere where God did not hold up His part of the covenant as well as His word it has always been mankind who did not keep his part of the covenant.

Why should God make a covenant with mankind?

Well to begin with we as the Body of Christ must understand that from the very beginning unto the end of time God is about making covenants. Speaking from my own understanding beginning with the Old Testament God began making covenants with creation this earth with the day and the night Jeremiah 33:20. Then God made a covenant Noah where God showed His intention that He was going to destroy the earth and Noah was to build and ark for Noah his family and two of every creature. For Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord so God made provision for Noah of their food and other provision while they were in the ark. Therefore, since the fall of man God has been making covenants and provision for His creation.

Through each of God’s Covenants God has Given a Pledge

Now let consider the Holy Scriptures of God’s covenants that pertain to the New Covenant and how it pertains to Israel, the church, and the last days. Looking at the biblical history of the Holy Scriptures the first vital covenant was with Abraham which is an everlasting covenant. Everyone in the Body of Christ agrees and admits the importance for understanding the covenants and the terms of the covenants. The vital importance of a proper understanding of the covenant with Abraham is that it holds the key elements which will continue until the end of time with Israel, the church, and the last days. Furthermore, this covenant underlines the whole subsequence of development of God’s redemption, atonement, grace, and salvation and God’s highest form of redemption in His New Covenant.

From between the time that the covenant was made with Abraham until the prophetic word given by the prophet Jeremiah was the covenant and the law and was made with the House of Israel showing them their transgression. You will find reference to this law of sin and death in the book of Romans 8 and Hebrews 8 regarding the first covenant with Israel and this was the old covenant. There are many scholars and theologians who state that there was a fault with the old covenant, however, I am reluctant to say that God has made any faults with His Word or with His covenants. My personal thought is if Israel as well as man had been obedient unto God’s covenant the God would not have had to make a New Covenant. Moreover, I further believe that anything that God does is Holy whatsoever law, covenant, commandment, or judgment God has made is Holy and for His creation provisions is Holy.

Yes, the New Covenant is Being a Better Covenant

For this New Covenant not only gives the law of the heart it also gives grace and a High Priest to be our Mediator. There is a question that needs to be addressed: Do you find any law of God that is binding on the church today? I ask this question because many mainline churches regard the New Covenant distinguish their teaching on doctrinal standards of the Old and New Testaments in this regard that the Old Testament is no longer in effect since Christ came. Secondly, that the New Testament is the grace of God and that it is the only thing that pertains to the church of today. Another way of saying it is that they feel the Old Testament is obsolete and that the New Testament replaces the Old Testament or replaces the old covenant.

The most important thing about understanding the New Covenant

The more I prayer and meditate on the New Covenant I find more confirmation that the Body of Christ needs a deeper insight into the understanding the mind of God’s New covenant and the role it plays within the Body of Christ. The real sadness is the amount of people within the Body of Christ who, you and I seeing leaving the Body of Christ for whatever reason that they are doing it. I could use sugar coated word, however, the truth is we need to be honest and say here is where the rubber meets the road it comes down to this fact for whatever reason the Body of Christ today with pastors and teachers are just playing with the Word of the Holy Scriptures regarding the New Covenant or not teaching or preaching the New Covenant, and this could be the main reason for people leaving the Body of Christ. Jesus on the night of Passover instituted the New Covenant, in which is the body and blood of the New Covenant, in addition, it the grace, salvation, atonement that we have gained by this New Covenant. Jesus when He instituted the New Covenant, He imputed God’s righteousness and holiness based upon the elements of the New Covenant.

God gave His Son authority to give eternal life, however, eternal life does not automatically mean that those who have it go into the kingdom of heaven and from what I read in the Holy Scriptures those who walk in foolish nonsense will not enter into the kingdom of heaven or eternal life. The superior ministry of Jesus is mention many times throughout the New Testament. I state this because He was our teacher, our prophet, and even still He was and is still our High Priest even before His Death and Resurrection.

Yes, we are living in the day of our High Priest or our Mediator which was made by one sacrifice with His atoning blood to do the will of God His Father. Our Lord and Savior is now the administrator or Mediator of the New Covenant as well as our High Priest is the one who stands before the Throne of God advocating for forgiveness of our sins. You will find in Hebrews 9 and 10 continues to explain Christ our mediator of the New Covenant and we should be thankful for our eternal life depends on Him and His administrating that New Covenant.

Let us go back again and look at what is written about the New Covenant. The Spirit of God brought to my mind that the Spirit that God poured out on all flesh began at the day of Jesus baptism as the fulfilling of the prophetic word of the prophet Isaiah:
“And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.” (Isaiah 11:2 NASB)

In addition, we need to compare this text of Scripture with a English translation from the Hebrew English Tanakh “But a shoot shall grow out of the stump of Jesse, A twig shall sprout from his stock. 2 The spirit of the Lord shall alight upon him; a spirit of wisdom and insight, a spirit of counsel and valor, a spirit of devotion and reverence for the Lord.”(Isaiah 11:1-2 Hebrew English Tanakh) The Spirit of God again brought to mind that this prophetic word had to be fulfilled so that He could pour out His Spirit of the New Covenant on all flesh Joel 2:28. Therefore, on the Day of Pentecost was the prophetic word of the prophet Joel fulfilled and made known to Israel, the church, and the last days. In addition, when you read the prophetic word of the prophet Joel; Joel 2:28, it is clear on the fact of the last days for it states “afterword” which could be translated last days.

When considering the role of the High Priest and Mediator in today’s modern world we typically think about the one who stands behind the pulpit and bring the message on Sunday morning. However, some would consider this priest as an individual who stand between two parties in a dispute, more often labor disputes. In addition, the mediator today mainly is more frequently a federal mediator to carry out the demands of each party to reach an agreement. However, the mediator I am addressing is the Mediator between man and God and the role He plays in the New Covenant. When you define the word, mediator found in the dictionary states is one who interposed between two parties to effect reconciliation; one who acts as an intermediate agent in bring, effecting or communicating. Moreover, the mediator between God and man does not fit or describe the role without reducing His position and principles found in 1 Timothy 2:5 “for there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, that man is Christ Jesus;” (KJV)

Then we must address the question: Is God not able to arrange matters so this function is not needed? If you answer yes what are you saying? Let us consider this line of thought without limiting the hand of God in anything: we also recognize that He arranged Christ office as being High Priest or Mediator because of God’s High standards and principles of what was needed to be Mediator for Israel, the church, and the last days. Furthermore, I believe what the Holy Scriptures states that God cannot deal with imperfection directly without a covenant to justify in whom He is dealing with. Moreover, from my understanding when there is a conditional covenant in place, then God works through the mediator or with the advocate of the sinful party or parties.

I further believe that this is why a mediator is necessary for Israel, the church, and the last days. For example, what are the most basic conflicts? When two parties or two individuals are at odds and would do bodily injury to one another, a third party stands between them to keep each of them from coming in contact with each other to prevent heaven. Therefore, the third party is the mediator in the dispute. In the kingdom of heaven Christ our Lord became Mediator for all Jews and Gentiles or Israel, the church, and the last days. Now then we begin the process of learning the righteousness of the New Covenant as well as the elements regarding the New Covenant written in both the Old and New Testament.

The Righteousness of God

The Holy Scriptures states “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well.” (Matthew 6:33 NIV)

It would be safe in saying that one of the main elements in the New Covenant is God’s righteousness and His character of righteousness. Therefore, what does this text of scripture make clear which is we are to seek His righteousness to be a righteous person. In the righteousness of God, we the Body of Christ needs to consider our spiritual dress for walking in the New Covenant by using the whole armor of God. This may seem foolishness to those who have not receive the gospel of Christ, however, it is light and life to those who follow the gospel of Christ.

There is one thing I know that God and His Son sent to Israel, the church, and the last days, a message of righteousness which is the law of the heart written by the hand of God. For the Body of Christ and the work of ministry we must relate the message of the power of God’s righteousness in the New Covenant and the connection between the old covenant and the New Covenant. What I am about to state may be an unwelcome realization as well as a reminder “that we all fall short of the glory of God and Christ Jesus” Romans 3:23. Furthermore, it does not make any difference what faith you proclaim or profess whether Jew or Gentile all fall short.

I believe that God’s provisions for Israel, the church, and the last days that God has made His Divine plan in two ways the first is His Son and new life is centered around Him and through Him. I state this because of what Jeremiah writes and this is his name whereby he shall be called, “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” Jeremiah 23:6. What does it mean when Jeremiah stated “the Lord of our righteousness”? As we consider this term, to state it the simplest terms would be, righteousness is doing right, or doing what is right, because it is right. In spite of our human weakness and all of the false accusations Satan can through at us, God is righteous and just, plainly means He is going to do what is right 100% of the time. Take note that the Holy Scriptures consistently connects the word “righteousness” with the “law of God” Isaiah 51:7.

What do we notice about the New Covenant of God?

First, I want to make the point that to know the New Covenant you have to know the author of The New Covenant which is God. The importance of knowing the author is you will better understand His reasoning and the great spiritual plan of God’s New Covenant and the grace and salvation it brings to Israel, the church, and the last days. Those who accept the New Covenant accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior and His blood sacrifice that would change your life and do the work of the New Covenant in your life. Furthermore, you would understand why God has given to us the Holy Spirit to guide us in our walk of faith that we would be able to reject the principalities and powers of the rulers of darkness and not conforming to the things of the world.

Secondly, God makes the covenant, not mankind. Therefore, we must approach the New Covenant the way God determines, not our way. After all He is the one who made it. When we consider this New Covenant, God was thinking about the generations and centuries before Christ, it was in the time of the prophets ministering God’s prophetic word to Israel. Again, I have thought often unto myself, there must be many people and Christians who do not know the true meaning of the New Covenant. I state this because I do not know for sure nor do I know their experience with the New Covenant.

Thirdly, God stated that this covenant was made with the House of Israel and the House of Judah. In addition, the New Covenant then is very Jewish. Yes, it is very true that God included the Gentiles, however, at the Day of Pentecost it was poured out on all flesh Jews and Gentiles, however, on the Jewish people first that was in the upper room that day. For the apostle Paul wrote to the church at Rome and stated: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jews first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16 NASB)

The fourth thing is God stated this is a different covenant for it is not a covenant like He made “with their father’s” when they were led out of the land of Egypt. The New Covenant now is a law of the heart, or the law of purity, or the Law of grace, however, to my understanding it is the law of Christ Galatians 6:2. In addition, I still believe we are still under the moral law of the Ten Commandments. For throughout the Holy Scriptures God has revealed His laws, covenants, conditions of His judgments and statutes and the holy priesthood to enforce these elements God has instructed man to live by. Therefore, as the Body of Christ we are to teach God’s Divine instruction, and perform the order of worshiping the Lord God Almighty.

The fifth issue is the promise for forgiveness of sin. Sin is when we disobey God’s commandments, laws, judgments, and statutes written within the pages of the Holy Scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments. Let us be honest and look at the truth regarding Israel, the church, and the last days that there are two main covenants we have to remember and that God established these Key elements to understand His Holy Word one is physical and two is the spiritual.

Finally, God promised that through this New Covenant the entire world would know Him and come to know Him. I state this for this reason that it is necessary for us to observe that the work of the New Covenant is the work of the Holy Spirit indwelling in us. In addition, let me be so bold as to say that the unconverted condition of mankind is no fit place for the New Covenant, therefore, it is for this condition that we need to be baptized by the washing or cleansing of the Spirit of God. In other words, it is only when the Spirit of God is applied by the water of new birth, and the blood of the Lord is applied that the knowledge of the New Covenant, and its redeeming power, that the indwelling of the Spirit of God comes to live with us. New birth is truly the work of the Spirit of God. The water is just the instrument or element as the agent of the power of God at work. Therefore, with the new birth beginning put into effect with any given individual person is now born of the Spirit of God and now is heir to the kingdom of heaven. It must be emphasized one more that new birth is the beginning of the work of the Holy Spirit in us or the Spirit of God operating in us and therefore declaring that we belong to God and Christ Jesus.

What is the basic prophetic message of the Holy Scriptures, and particularly, the New Covenant?

The basic prophetic word begins in the book of Genesis where God designed us in His Divine image and after Their likeness that God created man male and female Genesis 1-3. Furthermore, I believe that mankind was to have a personal relationship with God forever in the original state that He created us. However, we must remember and figure out of the fall of man God began establishing covenants and there are many recorded throughout the Holy Scriptures. From the time of Abraham where God establishes and everlasting covenant with Abraham and from this covenant many covenants will be established the next was with Moses, then David, through to the New Covenant given in the prophetic word of the prophets Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Joel. All of these prophets hold a distinct message for the New Covenant. Every Christian must take heed of the strong prophetic message given by these three prophets for with each prophet advocates the day of the day when Israel, the church, and the last days will have a New Covenant.

The second basic part of the prophetic message not only Israel has rebelled against God’s Commands and what He commanded. God cannot allow our sinful nature to come into an intimate relationship with Him because of our rebellion and sin. It is only in our rebellious heart of stone that God will change into a heart of flesh as well as make it a law of the heart. It is the Spirit of the New Covenant and its grace that cause our heart to become tender with love for God and one another.

The third basic prophetic word is to repeat myself that every last one of us has sinned, and therefore, we will all come under God’s judgment, we all die, left to ourselves, and moreover we will find ourselves on the way to hell. Even David freely confessed that he had sinned which you will find in the book of Psalms 14 and 51. David also goes on to write about God’s Divine presence and His Divine refuge as well as a god of salvation for His chosen people Israel.

The fourth basic thing we need to consider God is a loving God as well as a just God. God proved His love by sending His only begotten Son to provide for us a New Covenant that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

How do you and I respond to God’s New Covenant?

This is probably one of the most vital questions and yet common question I get: Why are you into all of this Jewish stuff? I tell them in this respond is for what the prophets wrote in the Holy Scriptures regarding Israel, the church, and the last days. Moreover, God gave the Jews the His Holy Word first, from His first covenant through to the Revelation of Jesus Christ. In return they have also state do you not believe that all of that Jewish stuff was done away with the coming of our Lord and giving us the New Testament. Again, I will tell you that the Holy Scriptures was given for Israel or the Jews from the beginning and to the church or the Body of Christ that through Him the world might be saved through His blood and God’s New Covenant. Let me state this as one of my main points of reasoning and logic that Paul writes in the book of Hebrews chapters 8-10 about the New Covenant and goes to great length to explain the New Covenant and its Mediator.

As you study and read about the New Covenant you must carefully compare all that is written by the prophets and the apostle Paul about what God will do as well as the different terms used by each prophet. Therefore, can we truly say that God’s promise to write the law on our hearts, or cause us to walk in His statutes, and keep His judgments by the power of the Holy Spirit means His law, His statutes; His judgments are done away with or abolished? My person response “I do not think so!” Wherefore, did this kind of theology that God writes His law in our hearts, which ceases to be the law of the heart that comes from Him? Again, I do not think so for once God writes a law it does not change or is it abolished. When God write the law of the heart within you it certainly does not come from the Holy Scriptures it come from God!

The very last time I looked into the heaven or the sky and at what God had created they were the same, so every law of God is still the same. However, one could also say in objection where the writer of Acts states about placing upon the disciples a yoke that their fathers was not able to bear Acts 15:10. However, we must consider what was being stated here by Paul regarding the ceremonial law that Paul was referring to is found in the book of Deuteronomy. “10 If you obey the Lord your God and keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of law, if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and soul. 11 For this commandment which I command you this day is not difficult for you, nor is it out of reach. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it? 13 Nor it beyond the sea, that should say, who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it? 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.” (Deuteronomy 30:10-14 NASB)

To make it plain there is nothing in the Holy Scriptures regarding the law that is arduous or humanely impossible to keep for it lies in our consideration of the law and that we are under God’s law even in His New Covenant if I may be so bold. If keeping the law of God and His commandments were impossible then why does Christ and His apostles keep teaching about holding us responsible for our deeds? For when we look at what Moses wrote to Israel then it is not difficult or out of reach the yoke must be something else; it is to this line of thought that the Pharisees was describing the ceremonial laws that Paul must use according to the law of Moses. In other words, they were trying to find any means to keep Paul from the missionary work to the Gentiles.

What is truly sad to state that most churches in the world toady observe and even quote the law from the Holy Scriptures and yet it is alright to tell a little white lie, or commit adultery, or cheat in business, etc.? Let me be clear about this I am not trying to foster an attitude of legalism or tell you how to live.
