The I’s of Revelation 2 and 3
I have been studying the book of Revelation for years and I thought that I had a good understanding of the prophecy of this book of Revelation until now. My logic and reason for making the above statement is that the Spirit of God open my eyes to a new revelation about Revelation 2 and 3 with the I’s of Christ and His Divine Revelation regarding the church. Never, ever before during all the years of my ministry did I look at or considered the deep understanding of the I’s of Christ Jesus our Lord. Moreover, the personal message of warning and promises that He states in the I’s of Revelation 2 and 3.
Revelation 2 King James Version
2 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
Revelation 2 Complete Jewish Bible
2 “To the angel of the Messianic Community in Ephesus, write: ‘Here is the message from the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven gold menorahs: 2 “I know what you have been doing, how hard you have worked, how you have persevered, and how you can’t stand wicked people; so you tested those who call themselves emissaries but aren’t — and you found them to be liars. 3 You are persevering, and you have suffered for my sake without growing weary. 4 But I have this against you: you have lost the love you had at first. 5 Therefore, remember where you were before you fell, turn from this sin, and do what you used to do before. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your menorah from its place — if you don’t turn from your sin! 6 But you have this in your favor: you hate what the Nicolaitans do — I hate it too. 7 Those who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Messianic communities. To him winning the victory I will give the right to eat from the Tree of Life which is in God’s Gan-‘Eden.”’
The I’s of Revelation 2 and 3
In the identification of the I’s of Revelation 2 and 3 of Jesus’ messages to the seven churches it is to relate what Jesus tells us about the things He will do and why. Moreover, is it important for the church today why? Therefore, considering these 18 I’s here in Revelation 2 and 3 and the purpose for Jesus stating them to the seven churches. Personally, I believe that these 18 I’s are especially critical where Jesus specifically points out the church’s condition of what He will do and why He will do it. Yes, here in Revelation 2 and 3 are messages composed of many vital issues pertaining to the church of warnings and promises and Jesus proclaiming a universal message to the church that is living in the last days.
Each one of these I’s brings out an important message of application which applied to the church then and moreover to the church today. Furthermore, Jesus had written to these early Christian churches 18 vital things about what He saw and what was needed for the church to enter, into their reward. Therefore, I believe it is well for us today to take heed of the I’s of Revelation 2 and 3.
Now let us look at each of these I’s
Now I have used the red font because the I’s here in Revelation 2 and 3 are what Jesus states.
I know thy works
I know the blasphemy of them
I have somewhat against thee,
I have a few things against thee
I will come unto thee quickly
which I also hate
I give to eat of the tree of life
I give to eat of the hidden manna
I will give him the morning star.
I will give thee a crown of life
I will cast
I will kill her children with death
I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
which thing I hate.
I gave her space to repent
I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts
I received of my Father
I know thy works
I have not found thy works perfect before God
I have set before thee an open door
I have loved thee
I will come on thee as a thief
I will come upon thee
I will not blot out his name out of the book of life
I will confess his name before my Father
I will make them of the synagogue of Satan
I will make them to come and worship before thy feet
I will write upon him the name of my God,
I will write upon him my new name
I will spue thee out of my mouth
I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation
I come quickly
I make a pillar in the temple of my God
I would thou wert cold or hot
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire
I rebuke and chasten
I stand at the door, and knock
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
I grant to sit with me in my throne
I also overcame
Now I have listed above all, of the ways that Jesus states I in Revelation 2 and 3.
Again, let me state that I believe that Jesus is revealing unto the church and His servants in the I’s what He will give unto them that overcome and what He will do if they do not overcome the things of this world and the evil power of Satan.
Yes, I believe that all of us at one time or another have read Revelation 2 and 3 and have seen that Jesus states seven times “I know thy works” which is the introduction to telling the church what they our doing well and what they our doing wrong. Moreover, it is well to note how Jesus addresses each church in this statement of “I know thy works”.
