The Holy Spirit or The Spirit of Truth

The Spirit of Truth or The Holy Spirit Study

Welcome to this new study about the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of Truth. Therefore, this a major study which will a major study where that we will examine for that the Holy Spirit guides us by what He hears. In addition, a personal study on the Holy Spirit to further continue the reason and true the purpose of revelation brought to us by the Holy Spirit. Personal thought: It is well to state first that the apostles Paul and John states what I believe to be the understanding about the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth and the gifts and fruits of the Spirit. Yet taking it a step further in this day and age the modern-day church needs the help of the Holy Spirit to fight the battle of spiritual warfare that is ever increasing in the church today. The logic for the above statement is to stress the fact that Satan has a vast arsenal of devices of deceptions to use against the word of God. However, John speaks clearly the words of the Lord of how it will not speak on His authority but only what He hears that He will speak John 16:13. Therefore, in this study I have given unto many scriptures that refer to the Holy Spirit and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Remember that not all of these texts of scriptures refer completely to the Holy Spirit but where the Spirit is ministering by guiding the prophets and apostles to speak and write the message of God’s word. In addition, as I study, and write this major study on the Holy Spirit, I will be studying from many translations of the Bible. However, for the purpose of this study I will only be showing two translations in comparing the scriptures relating to the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of Truth. These two translations are the King James Version and the Tree of Life Version of the Bible.

To help you in this major study of the Spirit of Truth or the Holy Spirit will take many hours of study from the scriptural outline in this study to where that you will be able to gain a full understanding of the purpose of why the Holy Spirit was sent. Therefore, I have broken down each text of scripture by taking that text of scripture and making key phrases and then have given a general reference to that phrase along with the two translations of the Bible. Yes, I would highly suggest that If possible that you read each text of scripture to see why that each texts of scriptures recorded in the Bible reveals the role of the Holy Spirit within Christian living. In addition, to help you better understand the Spirit of Truth or the Holy Spirit and why that God’s Son said that the Spirit of Truth would come.

Taking it a step further, I will be using three different Bible Dictionaries to help you better define it with a proper definition for understanding of the vast meaning of the Holy Spirit. Secondly, on the vast number of ways that the scriptures refer to the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, and the Spirit of God, and the role that He plays in the heart of men and women in the church.

THE BIBLE DICTIONARIES

(Hebrew ruah; Gr. pneuma), properly wind or breath. In 2 Thess. 2:8 it means “breath,” and in Eccl. 8:8 the vital principle in man. It also denotes the rational, immortal soul by which man is distinguished (Acts 7:59; 1 Cor. 5:5; 6:20; 7:34), and the soul in its separate state (Heb. 12:23), and hence also an apparition (Job 4:15; Luke 24:37, 39), an angel (Heb. 1:14), and a demon (Luke 4:36; 10:20). This word is used also metaphorically as denoting a tendency (Zech. 12:10; Luke 13:11).

In Rom. 1:4, 1 Tim. 3:16, 2 Cor. 3:17, 1 Pet. 3:18, it designates the divine nature. Easton Bible Dictionary

5. (by resemblance) spirit, but only of a rational being (including its expression and functions).

Hebrew ruach, Greek pneuma. Man in his normal integrity (“whole,” holokleeron, complete in all its parts, 1Th 5:23) consists of “spirit, soul, and body.” The spirit links man with higher intelligences, and is that highest part receptive of the quickening Holy Spirit (1Co 15:47). The soul (Hebrew nephesh, Greek psuchee) is intermediate between body and spirit; it is the sphere of the will and affections.

In the unspiritual, the spirit is so sunk under the animal soul (which it ought to keep under) that such are “animal” (“seasonal,” having merely the body of organized matter and the soul, the immaterial animating essence), “having not the spirit” (Jud 1:19; Jam 3:15; 1Co 2:14; 1Co 15:44-48; Joh 3:6). The unbeliever shall rise with an animal (soul-animated) body, but not, like the believer, with a spiritual (spirit-endued) body like Christ’s (Rom 8:11).
The soul is the seat of the appetites, the desires, the will; hunger, thirst, sorrow, joy; love, hope, fear, etc.; so that nephesh is the man himself, and is used for person, self, creature, any: a virtual contradiction of materialism, implying that the unseen soul rather than the seen body is the man. “Man was made” not a living body but “a living soul.” “The blood, the life,” links together body and soul (Lev 17:11).
