THE TRUTH ABOUT THE COMING DAYS THE REVELATION OF THE COMING DAYS
Many years ago when I first began my evangelist ministry the question kept coming to my mind and questions from others about the tribulation and when it would come and the prophecy of when it would come so with the help of Spirit of the Lord many biblical truths began to be unveiled from the Holy Scriptures. Then the Spirit of the Lord addressed me with this question are you going to follow the traditional teaching or accepted what the Lord God has had written by the prophets and the apostles I have chosen what God has had written and therefore I choose to write from His Holy Word. For me this was not a hard decision for me because that night, that the Lord called me He also walked with me and said go proclaim my word, and therefore, I believe that all of my decision was made then and the path that I would follow. The Spirit of the Lord also revealed that I must be very conservative with His Holy Word.
Down through the years of my life I have tried to be honest before my Lord God, and willing to do to the best of my ability to walk in His judgments and statues concerning His Holy Word. However, when I began pastoring I, soon found out that everyone do not hold this attitude as I do about the Holy Scriptures. And therefore, it is because of their own understanding about the Holy Scriptures, however, I have been searching for a new understanding or a new revelation about the purpose of tribulation and what would take place in the last days. Furthermore, I found that the prophetic word of Bible prophecy was vital for the church and the purpose that it played within the church. Therefore, I have carefully and thoroughly studied the Holy Scriptures to make sure that I do not to stray from what God has stated in His Holy Word. I state this for this reason that I believe that to write God’s Words means that God is making sure that you do not state His word without the truth of God in it. As Christian people, we are not deeply grieved nor are we surprised by all of the harsh conditions going on in the world today. For our Lord Jesus Christ and His Father have forewarned us in the gospel of Matthew 24:7-12 that these things would take place before the end of this world. In addition, the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that in the last days perilous times shall come 2 Timothy 3:1. The Holy Scriptures gives unto us many strong signs which have been written about the end of time, in Addition, such as what we are experiencing in the world today so be alert. The fact is that we already see much deception going on in the world by the teaching of our Lord again in Matthew 24.
Writing about the coming truth or about the coming days is not only about the end of time but also about the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ it also about the book of Revelation to show unto His servants or reveal unto His servants what He told John to write in a book Revelation 1:11. There are many astonishing truths found in the book of Revelation about the coming days that have gotten away from what was being taught when the church received this book of Revelation from the apostle John. Therefore, I ask you to take this challenge that you look and search the scriptures about the coming days and I am sure you will be amazed at what you find that can remove all of the bewilderment and the frustration you have about the book of Revelation.
Before I write any further I need to stress a personal point of view about one of the astonishing things being taught to the people within the Body of Christ and that is the word rapture for this word does not exist in the Holy Scriptures it began by John Darby who made it popular in 1827 and later it was put into the Scofield Reference Bible in 1909. Therefore, to my personal understanding this doctrine of the rapture takes away from what the prophetic word of the book Revelation and what it states about the coming days. I state this because I believe in what The Holy Scriptures states and that is that it states resurrection.
One might consider or interpret that the book of Revelation is a book of a Divine message from the Lord to the church that begins at the throne of God Revelation 1:4-5. The next important thing about Revelation chapter one is that the apostle John tells in his vision of the glory of the coming of Christ. In addition, we must also remember that the Lord is the firstborn of the dead. The next important thing is to all Christians that Jesus in His act of love and washing away our sins in His Own blood gave us salvation and eternal life. However, there is yet another element we need to consider here in Revelation 1 and that is John state that Jesus is a glorified instrument of God that now is at the right hand of the Father. Therefore, I cannot help but feel that if Christ was God’s chosen instrument to bring His grace and New Covenant unto the Body of Christ then we are as servants and are a chosen instrument to do the work of the Lord. These are just a few of the principle elements for understanding that the book of Revelation of why it was written for the church and the church is not excluded from any part of this revelation.
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of the things he saw. 3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:1-3 KJV)
THE PREFACE OF THE LORD’S REVELATION
AN OUTLINE OF THE PREFACE OF THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST REVELATION 1:1-3
Let me begin with an outline of the revelation that the Lord’s Spirit revealed unto my understanding for studying the rest of the book of Revelation for the coming days.
1 By whose authority
2 The Revelation of Jesus Christ
3 To show unto His servants
4 The things which must shorty come to pass
5 Who bears record of the word of God
6 The testimony of Jesus Christ
7 The blessing
The outline above states seven major elements in this preface of Revelation 1 that indicates what God gave unto His Son that His Son might reveal unto His servants the things which must shortly come to pass. If anyone wanted to interpret that the Lord is bringing a new revelation one might interpret that this Revelation of Jesus Christ is the unveiling of hidden things that God told Daniel to close the book until the end of time Daniel 12:4. The basic teaching has been taught for many years that the message of God was given to the prophets of old not unto a servant. No, I cannot agree with that line of teaching for this reason of what is stated in the book of Amos 3:7 states “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7 KJV) and in the book of Isaiah 42:9. However, I also further believe that you will find elsewhere in the Holy Scriptures where it includes all Christians for example like in Revelation 7:3 and 19:5. It is very clear what the words of the prophet Amos states about God and what God will do to make known unto His servants what He is about to do. To state this in another way is that God does not do nothing without a prophetic forerunner to disclose to His people about what is going to take place. For example, before the Lord’s ministry John the Baptist proclaim that there was one coming after him that would baptize them with fire Matthew 3:11.
Then we must therefore also take into consideration all seven elements of this preface are vital elements which tells us that the Lord is about to unveil unto His servants what to prepare for in the coming days. I further believe that you will find here in this preface where we begin to see how the Revelation of the Lord, of which He is foretelling unto His servants to make ready for the message that is about to be revealed unto them of the coming days. No matter how you want to interpret the Holy Word of God whether it be by revelation, prophecy, inspiration, symbols, etc… Therefore, we as servants of the Lord need to strongly consider what the Lord is communicating unto us about the coming days. What I am stating is that we as servants of the Lord need to be more concerned with what the Lord Jesus Christ is predicting unto us servants of the things which are recorded or written which must occur in the coming days.
The Lord’s preface of the book of Revelation we servants of the Lord should begin with this understanding that it is the prophetic word for the church for Jews first and the Gentiles in that body of which is called the church. For our Lord is setting the stage to bring into account the future of the coming days on this focus that it is His Revelation that His Father gave unto Him which is the source where all revelations come from. Take notice that this text of scripture does not state that it is the revelation of the apostle John. Nevertheless, the truth is that our Lord makes it clear that it is His Revelation that He will reveal or show unto His servants the things which must shortly come to pass. Furthermore, I believe that the Lord makes it clear that He sent His Revelation by His angel and signified it unto His servant John.
Therefore, the apostle John became a chosen instrument of the Lord to be the Lord’s human element to write His Revelation to be sent to the seven churches in Asia. Yet another thing that I find about the writers of the Old Testament as well as the New Testament, that the prophets or apostles done most of their writing while they were in exile or in prison my point is that the writers of both testaments of the Holy Scriptures were under persecution for their work for the Lord God Almighty. The next important part of this preface is where the Lord state His purpose of what His Father gave unto Him, therefore, this revelation of which the Lord has been given was to show unto His servants the things which must shortly come to pass or what will be taking place in the coming days. One might also interpret that the Lord is setting the stage for His prophetic word, or the prediction of the Lord’s revelation or His words of prophecy regarding the coming days shown unto His servants. It is the revelation of what the Lord Jesus Christ states His Divine revelation about the coming days what we read find in the pages of the book of Revelation of His Divine prediction to show unto His servants. We the servants of the Lord can with all honesty say that we have been blessed by the Lord God Almighty the His Son is showing unto His servants the things that must come to pass.
In this preface the Lord also gives blessing to them who meet the requirements He gives, therefore, we servants are blessed if we read His Revelation hear His Revelation and keep the things written therein this Revelation. Again, the second part of this requirement is that we are to hear what is read or spoken regarding this prophecy. The third part of this requirement is the most important part for every individual Christian to keep the words of this prophecy that is written therein. Yes I believe that the Lord and God can do all things to reveal Their Divine Purpose, however, the Lord stated a requirement of what the servants in the Body of Christ should do without question.
Let me begin by stating that the very first text of scripture here in Revelation brings out an important factor that many Christian people when they read may not see what Jesus Revelation is bringing out. The significance is that the Lord is saying I am showing you or revealing unto you my servants the things that have been concealed or hidden about the end of time of which My Father told Daniel to close up until the end of time. Therefore, it is not a hidden language or code for this revelation which the Lord God is about the unveiling; however, the one thing that most individuals miss when they read is that which must come to pass shortly. In addition, it is a book that is unveiling not concealing. Let me add this personal note of understanding about what I have just stated one might also interpret that the unveiling of Revelation might be the unveiling of God’s mysteries in the Revelation of Jesus Christ about the events to come in the coming days. In addition, I further believe that the Lord is making it possible unto His servants the way of interpreting the revelation of the last days and the coming events that is prophesies here in the book of Revelation.
While most of us do not completely understand everything recorded in the book of Revelation and yes, the most likely place for us to start is in the Old Testament where the prophetic word of the coming days began with the prophets of old. One might go so far to say that these prophets of old are our model for interpreting what the apostle John wrote in the book of Revelation. Now what I am talking about unto all of you who does not think that the book of Revelation is tremendously important to the Body of Christ I state this because what the Lord said unto Peter and Peter’s answer unto the Lord’s question the Lord responded by saying unto Peter that flesh and blood did not reveal unto Peter that the Lord was the Son of God. Therefore, the Body of Christ is built upon the foundation of God’s Holy and Prophetic revelation which was given to the prophets and the apostles to state that revelation of God’s Word unto the Body of Christ then and now.
I find that one of the key elements found in the book of Daniel that confirms that God now is beginning to open up His Divine Revelation unto the servants of the Lord regarding this end of time prophecy is stated in Daniel 12:9 “And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of end.” (KJV) The point is that this book of Revelation is about the unveiling or the revealing of the coming days and about the events that will bring an end to this earth because the wrath of God will be fulfilled or the Holy Scriptures has been fulfilled.
Some years back I wrote for a Bible study from the book of Revelation that there is a five-fold order of authentic leadership and the order of that leadership when it comes to the unveiling through the Revelation of Jesus Christ. The very first point of authority is first and foremost leadership of God Himself, the second order of leadership is Christ which God gave unto Him the revelation to and the third is Christ’ servants and the fourth is the angel that signified the revelation and the fifth is the apostle John. I bring out this order to show that our God and His Son has given unto Their servants the prophetic word to show to the church and world that these things will come to pass.
“Who bare record of the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of the things he saw.” (Revelation 1:2 KJV)
Here in verse two we also find another important key element which states this that the apostle John “who bare record” this should become very clear that we the servants of the Lord God are to bare record of the word of God as well as the record of the book of Revelation. Let me stress this point in my own personal understanding about baring record of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ and the apostle John this means the book of Revelation. I give you this example for this reason that the apostle John walked with the Lord, he touched the Lord, and John was even present at the transfiguration of the Lord Matthew 17:1-3.
It is well to note that John is to keep a record of what he sees and what he hears, therefore, the Lord is telling John that this revelation of what John will be shown in your visions of the coming events that there is a vital need that a record be kept. These are the areas that a record should be kept a record of the word of God, a record of the testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ, and finally a record of what he saw. Many will state that this record is about what John saw and that is very true, however, there is another thing that we need to consider before we go any further and that the book of Revelation that John is not the author only the writer. My logic for this statement is if the Lord Jesus Christ has went unto the Father and John states that he was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day then John must be writing what he heard the Lord dictating unto him in his visions of what he is to write or record.
THE FIRST BLESSING IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION
“Blessed is he who readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keeps those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Revelation 1:3 KJV
In this first chapter of the book of Revelation above I have started with the third text of scripture that I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father wants Their servants to know and understand the coming days so they are giving Their blessing for reading this book of Revelation. In addition, one must also state that the Lord also has stated a three-fold condition first we must read and two we must hear and three we must keep the words of this prophecy. Therefore, to each and every Christian I offer this thought if you want the Lord’s blessing for understanding His word you must read it. I have never ever seen nor understood how much the Lord God Almighty wants His creation as well as His servants to understand the truth of the coming days until I read the book of Revelation. Jesus wanted us to understand so much that God gave unto His Son the Divine Revelation of what is present and what is to come, and to show unto His servants the things that must shortly come to pass Revelation 1:1. In addition, the Lord Jesus Christ sent it with a blessing that to those who read and hear and keep the words to this prophecy to understand the time is near Revelation 1:3. There are six more beatitudes found in the book of Revelation which I will write about as I come to them. Then the Lord caught His servant John up in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day and told him to write what he see and write in a book and send to the churches in Asia. The Lord Jesus named seven churches to send the book that John was to write which we now call the book of Revelation.
As we the members of the Body of Christ study the Revelation of Jesus Christ and His Divine communication of warning as well as instruction of the things that must shortly come to pass. Therefore, we find the book of Revelation a Divine manifestation that reveals the coming days to be understood by His servants. Furthermore, if we look for the love of the Lord God in this book of Revelation, I further believe that we can better get to know our Lord and have a closer relationship with Him. “Blessed is he that readeth, and that that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:3 KJV) It is well to note that this is not the only blessing that the Lord gives which is recorded in the book of Revelation here is a list:
THE BEATITUDES OR BLESSINGS IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Now below I have listed where the beatitudes are found in the book of Revelation to show you the blessing of the Lord regarding the coming days. Even though the book of Revelation is one of the most difficult book to interpret I also believe that it hold some of the greatest blessing. In addition, it holds many great rewards for those who overcome the sins of the world. One of the great rewards is found with the church at Ephesus, when the Lord states He will grant them who overcome to eat of the tree of life in the midst of paradise of God Revelation 2:7.
The blessed are those who read the words of this prophecy Revelation 1:3
“Blessed is he that readeth, and that that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” (KJV)
Now when I consider the words which are written here it communicates an inspired message from the Lord that I will receive a blessing from the Lord for reading what He is revealing in this word of prophecy that are coming soon. Consider this thought about keeping the words of this prophecy could also mean that we are to guard our lives with the words of this prophecy to protect us in the coming days. In addition, by reading the words of this prophecy we are also hearing the words of this prophecy.
The blessed are comforted in rest Revelation 14:13
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.” (KJV)
The blessed are those who watch Revelation 16:15
“Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.” (KJV)
The blessed are those that are called Revelation 19:9
“And saith unto me, write Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And saith unto me, These are the true saying of God.” (KJV)
The blessed are those who hath part in the first resurrection Revelation 20:6
“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” (KJV)
Now I cannot speak for others only for myself, therefore, this is one of the blessings that I truly and honestly want to be part of. One might interpret this text of scripture as saying that our Lord has given guarantee to those who overcome and walk worthily will be part of the first resurrection.
The blessed are those who keepeth the saying of this prophecy Revelation 22:7
“Behold, I come quickly; blessed is he that keepeth the saying of this prophecy of this book.” (KJV)
The blessed are those who keep His commandments Revelation 22:14
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” (KJV)
I have stated it before in some of the writings and Bible studies and messages that the book of Revelation is the only book where the Lord states that He will bless them that read His word of revelation.
JOHN’S GREETING TO THE SEVEN CHURCHES
“John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priest unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:4-8 KJV)
THE RECIPIENTS IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION
It is well to note early in my writing of Beware of the Coming Days Pass the Word that we are the recipients of the Revelation of Jesus Christ each and every Christian. Even though it states here in Revelation 1 that it is the seven churches the Lord is addressing in verse four. Having addressed the preface of verses one through three the Lord now addresses the recipients from the one who sits on the throne. Yes, we know and believe that there were more than seven churches that the Lord could have chosen from in the region to bring His Divine message about the coming days.
The very first thing we need to consider is in these texts of scriptures, who are the recipients or the partakers of whom the Lord is addressing by John in John’s greeting. Yes, we could say that these are the seven churches in Asia then, however, I further believe that the Lord and John are addressing the partakers or the recipients of the church today. One might also interpret that the Lord is putting a special significant to which He is addressing His Divine message of revelation to which is the seven angels of each church which means one who is the pastor of the church.
It is also well to note that John states two times in these
verses of scriptures “Him which is, and him which
was, and him which is to come.” You will find that all through the Holy Scriptures if a statement is made twice it relates that one needs to pay close attention to what is being stated by the Lord God. In interpreting this text of scripture, because of the way the Lord has John to state his greeting unto the seven churches that the Lord introduces Himself in this manner to relate these three elements of truth that He is the past, He is the present, and He is the future.
The next important thing we need to address in this text of scripture in Revelation 1 is the seven Spirits before the throne of the Lord. Yes, there are many different opinions about these seven Spirits before the throne of God. However, you will find that the seven Spirits in three places the first is stated with the church at Sardis, the second is in chapters four and third in chapter five in Revelation you will also find that in all three places it states that the seven Spirits are before God. In addition, we find that the prophet Isaiah prophesies about the seven Spirits which would fall upon the Lord Jesus when He came into this world Isaiah 11:2. This subject I will write more about later when we get to chapter four.
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priest unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:5-6 KJV)
In verses five and six we can find that now the apostle John states that this revelation of the coming days now comes from the faithful witness begotten of the Almighty God. I believe that the best way to interpret how Jesus was a faithful witness is in how He live His life in obedience unto His Father’s will and that He was faithful even unto His death on the cross. What the Lord had achieved through His faithfulness in obedience vindicated Him to become our High Priest in the kingdom of heaven at the right hand of His Father. Moreover, the early church understood to be the true Israel the inheritors of the blessing of God and their spiritual predecessors 1 Peter 2:5 and 9.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (Revelation 1:7 KJV)
Now we find in verse seven that the apostle John now turns to the announcement of Jesus Second Coming as Christ was at His ascension in the book of Acts. Then John makes it clear that all eyes shall see Him even those who pierced His side.
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8 KJV)
Again, it is now stated for the second time “which is, and which was, and which is to come” again we find this threefold amplification of the past, present, and future only this time the Lord states the Almighty.
THE VOICE JOHN HEARD IN HIS VISION
“I John, who am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day and I heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned I saw seven golden candlesticks;” (Revelation 1:9-12 KJV)
What is the importance of understanding the voice that spoke to John? In addition, what do other interpreters or writers have to say about the voice that John heard? I believe that it is quite clear that Our Lord God is a great communicator for He speaks with a loud clear voice or a still small voice as He did with Elisha. However, here in this text of scripture states with a loud voice, therefore, He is speaking loud and clear to the apostle John. When people do not hear God’s voice it is probably because they are ignoring or they do not recognize the voice of God which is sad to state. Therefore, my personal goal is to be in the Spirit so that people can hear the voice of the Lord as loud from my lips as well as John did when in the Spirit.
Remember that the apostle John is commanded to write what he sees and what he hears which, is the revelation of Jesus Christ regarding the church and I believe it is for the coming days. In addition, most scholars and interpreters of the Bible set the stage of John’s vision mainly speaking to this point which is about the Lord’s Day and little is mentioned about the voice that the apostle John hears from behind him. I bring out this point or understanding of this view for what the Lord states seven times to the seven churches about hearing what the Spirit is saying unto the churches. Furthermore, the Lord goes on to make it clear “that he who hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying unto the churches.” (Revelation 2 and 3)
THE VISION OF THE GLORIFIED CHRIST
“And in the midst of the seven candlestick one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and, his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the key of hell and of death. 19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; 20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels to the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.” (Revelation 1:13-20 KJV)
These verses of scriptures above are to introduce the vision of the Glorified Christ, and the seven stars, and the seven golden candlesticks. It is also well to note how the Lord brings out or to what the Lord uses or what symbolize the seven angels of each of the seven churches. It is very sad to say; however, true that the word church today is used to describe other things such as the church building which do not symbolize what John was told to write to the seven churches and yet they do describe, the church today in the members in the church.
SOME BASIC FOUNDATION OR ACCOUNT ABOUT THE COMING DAYS
Therefore, the basic foundation of the coming days which will be written in this book and, therefore, we the Body of Christ, needs to take heed that it is a book of Revelation in the Lord’s prophetic warnings of the coming days. I do not consider myself to be a prophet, however, this is a time that I must write in this book the message of the warnings in “Beware of the Coming Days Pass the Word” regarding what the Lord Jesus Christ taught unto His apostles to warn those whom the Father gave unto Him to be His Bride in the kingdom of heaven in the days to come. Therefore, understand this of what the Lord God Almighty Spirit has spoken unto me, and the Spirit was very clear when He said that I am required to write about what we members of the Body of Christ needs to take heed of the coming days and to pass the word of the Lord’s Coming and of the events that would fall upon the earth.
The question has come up many times during my ministry: Why do preachers have to preach warning and why can they not just preach love would that not get more people to become Christian? My answer is simply this I can find nowhere in the Holy Scriptures where it is just all about love for God kept sending His prophetic word of instruction by His prophets to the House of Israel that they had to change what they were doing if He was going to bless them. The point is if God has called us we therefore are heirs in the kingdom of heaven and therefore we need to take heed and make ready for His Son’s return in the coming days.
Now Paul a chosen instrument to go unto the Gentiles and delivered the message of the gospel of Christ, in addition, Paul was also given the revelation of the coming days which he spoke the Lord’s warning of the coming days unto Timothy and I further believe that the messages Paul addressed to Timothy he also addressed it to many other churches which Paul spoke too during his days of ministry for the Lord. I am by no means a Paul or an apostle like John whom the Lord dictated His Divine message of the coming days which I fully believe we are living in today and therefore it is high time that we consider Jesus message of the revelation of the coming days and the wrath His Father will pour out upon the earth in the coming days with all His fury.
However, this I also believe that God the Father is going to come back down again to see the cries of the saints which are coming up to God even now as the cries did in the days of Abraham Genesis 18. For you find this prophetic word very clear in Genesis 18 where it states in Genesis 18:21 this “I will go down and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.” (Genesis 18:21 NKJV) In addition, we also need to consider or remember that in the seals in Revelation 6 we find them that are under the altar crying out unto the Lord how long will it be until you revenge our blood Revelation 6:10. Now the Lord’s response unto these under the altar was that they must wait a little season until their fellow servants should be killed as they were Revelation 6:11.
I further believe because of what I have just stated that our God and Lord Jesus Christ does not do anything until they have revealed unto their servants what they are about to do. Again, let me be quite clear by repeating it the second time unto their servants, and prophets, the things that must come to pass as well as those who were under the altar as the Lord addressed them that they should wait. Believe me when I say that these events of the prophetic word recorded in the book of Revelation of the coming days are at hand and we therefore need to take heed and pass the word of the coming days or fall with Babylon, however, to be more, clearer on the wrath of God. In addition, if you study the prophetic words of the book of Revelation you will see for yourself these events are unfolding today right before our eyes and as I write this book.
Remember that this first book is just about the coming days and these days are upon us for if you read the prophecy of the book of Revelation you will see what the Lord dictated unto the apostle John to write regarding the coming days. However, long before John received this Revelation of Jesus Christ, John also received the prophetic word about the spirit of antichrist and how that this spirit was already in the world and within many in the Body of Christ or the church in his epistles. The Lord tells John to write unto the angel of the church at Thyatira and warned them about the seducing spirit of Jezebel Revelation 2:20. In addition, our Lord gave His warning personally in the gospel of Matthew 24 as He spoke unto His disciples about the signs of the coming days that there would be many who would proclaim that they were Christ and many others who would come in His name and proclaim the false doctrine of the word of God as well as show signs falsely to deceive the very elect about the coming days and His return. Again, take heed of the coming days and pass the word of truth about the Lord’s Revelation of events that are close at hand. One of the warnings signs that Paul gave to Timothy was that in the last days that people would not endure sound doctrine but they would heap unto themselves teachers having itching ears 2 Timothy 4:3. It is sad thing for any individual to have to state, however, this is just one of the conditions going on within the church today and it is stated, in this way or manner by many individuals who just teach us about the love of Christ without giving the warning about the Lord’s Revelation of the coming days for they say that this is the message of doom and gloom and people can do without it. It is even a sad day when men and women of the Body of Christ does not want to hear the true prophetic word of the Holy Scriptures that reveals all of the spiritual conditions the Body of Christ is to maintain as children of God.
REVELATION 2 AND 3 THE SEVEN CHURCHES
Now it is well to note the rewards or promises and the warnings. I state this because it would make no sense to show just the rewards that the Lord gives without stating the warnings because of unfaithfulness and the grave consequences that follows.
Here a list of thirteen things that the Lord will
give to them that overcome
1 Authority over nations: Revelation 2:26
2 Name not erased from book of life: Revelation 3:5
3 Inherits the earth: Revelation 21:7
4 New name on a white stone: Revelation 2:17
5 Eat of hidden manna: Revelation 2:17
6 Pillar in temple: Revelation 3:12
7 Sits on Christ’s throne: Revelation 3:21
8 To eat of the Tree of life: Revelation 2:7
9 Not hurt by second death: Revelation 2:11
10 Morning star: Revelation 2:28
11 White Garments: Revelation 3:5
12 Name of God, city, and Christ written on him: Revelation 3:12
13 Name confessed before the Father and His angels: Revelation 3:5
IN THOSE SEVEN CHURCHES WHO ARE NOT OVERCOMERS ARE PROMISED
1 War with the sword from the Lord’s month: Revelation 2:16
2 To be thrown into the great tribulation: Revelation 2:22
3 Children killed with the pestilence: Revelation 2:23
4 To receive according to their deeds: Revelation 2:23
5 Come like a thief: Revelation 3:3
6 Spit out of the Lord’s mouth: Revelation 3:16
7 Reproof and discipline: Revelation 3:19
You will find in Revelation chapters two and three all of the spiritual conditions regarding the Body of Christ that we in the Body of Christ are to maintain as children of God or Christians. Now I am going back to the day when I was pastoring and pull out some of my messages which I preached back years ago about the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3. These messages were prepared for doing a short message which I preached on the radio back in 1993.
SEVEN MESSAGES ON THE SEVEN CHURCHES
The first message was titled “When Christ calls Back His Church” begins with Revelation 2:1 In this message the Lord is dictating to the apostle John I believe it is the opening message of the characteristics of the spiritual condition of the church then as well as today. I further believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is still calling the church to come back to its standard of faith when the first begun. It is the same Lord that the apostle Paul wrote about in Hebrews who now is our High Priest in the kingdom of heaven. This High Priest is also King of Kings and Lord of Lords who will judge the church at the Great White Throne Judgment.
Therefore, the Lord of the church is the one who is administering His judgment unto the church by giving a self-description of Himself to each church. Furthermore, He is ministering unto the administration of the church His Divine instruction and providing His loving grace and Spirit. Then we must then take into consideration the life of the church and the Lord is very clear about knowing the life of the church when He states “I know thy works” which I believe is a clear picture of the Lord’s understanding of the church. For He see clearly our works and our deeds in life.
The Lord begins His message to each and every one of the seven churches with “I know thy works” as well as He commends them for the work that they are doing to keep His word active within the church. Nevertheless, Christ message or letter I believe gives these facts regarding the church at Ephesus first the Lord commended them for their energetic work of patience, and secondly that they could not stand them that were evil and have tried them and found them to be liars. In addition, the Lord commended them for their labor as well as the Lord sees their sensitivity or spiritual discernment for seeking out ways to find the truth of those who claim to be apostles and were not. The next thing that the Lord commended the church at Ephesus for was for their endurance or for their determination to find the truth.
In light of all these commendations, the church at Ephesus a great church and yes it had commendable qualities, however, it still was missing one of the most important factors, and it was missing its first love. It is well to note that some kind of event or many events lead up to make this church spiritually cold or without love. In beware of the coming days do you see this within the Body of Christ in the aspect that the church is missing its first love. Another way of addressing this subject regarding the first love in the church has the individuals within the church have fallen into a spiritual routine in the worship of the Lord God. Again, it is well to note that this may be what is happing with many Christians today. Therefore, the Lord’s warning of having this against them was making the call for them to come back to their first standard of love if not He would remove their candlestick from out of its place. What is the lesson the church today learn from this message to Ephesus. The text for this message was from Revelation 2:1-7.
My second message in this series was titled “The Church that Christ Crowns” and the text for this message is “Revelation 2:10” which states “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life” (KJV) As I begun this message it started with this point of view and I quote “it is interesting what people look for when they join a church. What do they look for? And would you join the church at Smyrna? This was a suffering church.” Then it is well to note how the Lord identifies Himself to this church “these things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;” Revelation 2:8 KJV. Then my question is would you join a suffering and persecuted church?
One might interpret the Lord’s person is a Lord of time and eternity. I believe it is well to consider what Paul wrote to them at Philippi and this is what Paul states that we should have the mind of Christ in regards to the work of His ministry to be of oneness with the Father or to be a servant unto the Lord God for Christ was obedient even unto death Philippians 2:8. Obedient unto death the Holy Scriptures speak of refers to the cross, His death, and His resurrection as well as His triumph victory over death as well as of those who rejected Him.
The church of Smyrna was under very heavy pressure as well as persecution which one might interpret as intense tribulation. Even the Lord Jesus Christ spoke of tribulation like never before in Matthew 24 and the apostle Paul writes in like manner of tribulation in the last days or perilous times 2 Timothy 3:1. Paul also writes that tribulation worketh patience Romans 5:3. Then the Lord addresses their poverty there are two ways the New Testament addresses the word poverty one means barely making a living and the second means to have nothing, be utterly destitute. Now our Lord makes a beautiful statement to this church that they are rich. The revelation that the Lord Spirit gave unto me is that they are a church that has all of the spiritual riches, as well as a spiritual heritage, and therefore they were so spiritually rich that being poor could not defeat them.
The meaning of the word suffering in this message that Christ sends to the church at Smyrna has a twofold meaning the first means to injure bodily and the second means to injure with speech. With this church and the persecution that they were facing by those who said they were Jews but was not but of the synagogue of Satan, Revelation 2:9. However, the Lord tells them to be faithful even unto death, therefore, meaning things are going to get worse. What is the lesson for the church today from the church of Smyrna and what people must face in the coming days from our enemy Satan and the wrath of God to come? One of the important lessons we should learn from the church of Smyrna is about people who make false profession about who they are. Furthermore, this false profession of Satan is still alive and is working powerfully for he knows his time is short. I state this because Satan is still using his destructive words to kill the word of God, in families, the church of today, and each of our personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father our creator. Yet another important lesson we should learn from this church is life will be tested as it was tested then in their suffering and persecution and in life’s test we are to remain faithful even unto death. Life being tested can also mean that we the members of the Body of Christ will suffer a time of intense suffering which I will speak of later in this book.
In my third message I titled “The Triumphant Christ for the Church Triumphant”. The prophecy or prophetic word of the book of Revelation has a message that declares to the church to beware of the coming days. Another thing that in the beginning of the book of Revelation makes clear is “the time is at hand” in addition, it states “the things that must shortly come to pass”. Today more than ever before do we need to understand that the very first text of scripture reveals that the Revelation of Jesus Christ to be showed unto the servants of the Lord Revelation 1:1.
Another key factor in Revelation chapter one is that Christ tells John to write a book and send to the seven churches in Asia Revelation 1:11. My reasoning for bring up this text of scripture is the fact that the Lord said to write a book and send, therefore, all seven churches has received the same prophetic word of the coming days. Let me say it this way that our God and Lord has given us the blueprint of His Divine Plan to the church and He sent it by revelation. When we read the book of Revelation and at the writer of Revelation, we see also that he knew and understood tribulation of how the Roman Empire and its emperor were causing the suffering of the church with persecution of those of the Christian faith.
It is sad to say that many of the Christian have not caught the vision of the revelation of the book of Revelation described throughout the pages of Revelation. I cannot stress this strong enough that the word of Revelation needs to be taught so that the Body of Christ is aware of the coming days. Furthermore, I believe that we can see the Lord in this manner which is through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, and with the eyes of our own understanding. The Spirit of the Lord is someone with whom we may communicate with for the Spirit of the Lord speaks to us. In addition, He is someone we may respond to in our worship and our submission unto Him. Even as John was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, we to can be caught up in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day. It is the hand of the Spirit of God with His grace and love of encouragement that will make us triumphant to enter into the kingdom of heaven to ever be with the Lord.
Now my fourth message was titled “A Cleansed Church” and the church at Thyatira. It is well to note that this message to this church is the longest message recorded in Revelation two and three and contains one of the strongest messages with the severest warning to the church. One of the most important facts that we need to see and understand is how that the Lord Jesus sees the insight of the church then as well as the church of the last days. This is the church known to many as the church of the false prophetess and yet according has a good commendation for its service, its charity, faith, and patience and its works and the last to be more than the first.
In the Lord’s introduction of Himself is the only place in the New Testament where the Lord refers to Himself as the Son of God. In addition, I believe that it is well to note about the fact which He states about His eyes like unto a flame of fire. When searching the word for a better understanding about the eyes like a flame of fire what I found interesting is the many elements or insight of how one could interpret this text of scripture. Let us begin with the first element or first thought of insight would be as most interpret it as the eyes that can see all things. Every True!
Now the second thoughts of insight about the eyes are a consuming fire that treads down the evil work of His enemy. The eyes like a flame of fire also I believe strongly suggest this thought of eyes of rage and ruthlessness upon His enemy to execute His judgment. The logic behind this thought of insight is in what God says He will do about pouring out His wrath upon this earth and His enemy. In addition, the eyes like a flame of fire also might suggest a light that nothing can be concealed from His view. You find in Revelation 1:14-15 a similar thought or description given unto John that in addition reveals the thought of one who judges all things. However, keeping with the thought of how the Lord stated to John to write this message to the church of Thyatira could be interpreted as the eyes of fire speaks of a burning indignation of purifying judgment with the church.
Yet even another way of stating about the Lord’s eyes like a flame of fire that they are a penetrating eye with insight of what the church is doing behind closed doors of our lives as well when no one is around. This thought could also mean what the lord knows about our motives in everyday life. In each and every message to the seven churches the Lord states “I know thy works” I believe this that the Lord is not saying that we are not active within the church or that we are lazy. The Lord commends them for their work and the service and their faith and yet the Lord says that notwithstanding that He has a few things against them. Let me state it in this manner that the Lord Jesus Christ is making it clear that this church has more than just one problem. Therefore, one might ask what does this have to do with the coming days for the church today because we are under grace. Yes, this is true, however, then why did the Lord say that He had a few things against them.
In addition, then let me be so bold as to say this in this question: Why did God give the revelation to His Son to show unto His servants the things that must shortly come to pass? In addition, why did the Lord send seven messages to seven churches and commend them as well as warn them of the sin or wrong they were doing and what would take place if they did not change? In five of the churches Jesus tells them of their problem or problems like the church at Ephesus and it lost love and now the big problem with the false prophetess that was seducing the leaders of the church to turn from the word of God and God’s commandments. The point is that this about what I have stated this far shows how the church needs to be cleansed. Today the main message given is about the love of God and this is good, however, what about the punishment that will take place if we do not walk in the will of God’s Word. Beware of the coming days pass the word is about that warning that the Lord describes in the book of Revelation and therefore it is time for a cleansing of the church to make ready the coming of the Lord.
Another message I did with the seven churches was titled “A Church Awakening” and the logic behind this message is about a dying church that needs to be woken up from its death bed. In this message I used seven examples of evaluation or identification of weather the church was dying or alive and well.
1 A church is dying when it fails to fulfill the works of the Lord.
2 A church is dying when it loses its awareness of God’s presence.
3 A church is dying when it forgets its unique nature.
4 A church is dying when it begins to live carelessly in the Lord.
5 A church is dying or will die when there is unpreparedness for the Lord’s return or His Second Coming.
6 A church is dying when fellowship and love is lost.
7 A church is dying when it fails to confess Christ our Lord openly.
Our Lord in His introduction to the church at Sardis stated a term of evaluation when He said “be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain” Revelation 3:2 KJV. You will find that after these words of evaluation that the Lord stated for them to remember back to what they had received by awakening back up what they had in the beginning. Then the Lord gives them warning if the church does not respond to my warning “I will come like a thief and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee” Revelation 3:3 KJV. I believe that this is a clear warning that the church needs to be aware of the coming days and to pass the word of encouragement that our God has given us the means of strength in His Holy Spirit to be ready for His Son return. My closing statement for this message was “So wake up church of God”.
This message that the Lord gave unto my understanding was about an open door so naturally I would title it “The Church with an Open Door”. Now I like what my Lord addressed unto this church when the Lord states “I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it” Revelation 3:8 NKJV. As many of you know that this is one of the churches that the Lord had no condemnation for and yet also told them to repent, Why? Even yet today there are many weak Christians and this text of scripture should encourage them to know that our Lord has made to provision of opening a door of salvation that no man can shut.
This is the Lord that blesses those who are weak and have little strength. One of the main elements of truth that I personally get from this church is that our Lord shows unto us His administrative authority as well as His administrative activity within the church. This church was a loyal church or an obedient church in their walk of faith and to the Word of God which God had command. Another way of addressing it is that this church was people who kept the Word of God and were true unto the Lord Jesus Christ.
The main element which I believe we the Body of Christ today needs to hear and believe that each of us may be able to experience is the promise of the Lord that the day will come when the Lord makes the synagogue of Satan come and worship Him before us. Yes, I know that most do not see this as a promise but I do and I also know that this can only happen if we walk in the Word of the Lord.
Beware of the coming days pass the word of the prophecy of this book of Revelation that our Lord will open the door of our spiritual conquest of the last days and deliver us from the fi re trials that will come according to the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Therefore, remember that the Lord gives to each of us His eternal rewards to them who keep the words of this prophecy.
Now my last message was titled “A Church on the Fence” and this message is about the church of the Laodiceans which is the lukewarm church. This was a church where they got to the point where Christ may have said that you are no longer useful to Me. Therefore, this is a church that became a spiritual castaway. At that time, I state this was a special message for the church today. Yet it is also the same today as it was then that in the writing of this book beware of the coming days pass the word this church of Laodicea in its spiritual state, we find in many local churches today that they are lukewarm and may become a spiritual castaway.
The logic for relating a negative respond about the church and a lukewarm church is because of what Christ state that He would spue them out of His mouth. Another way of putting it is in this clear fact that “the church of Laodicea made Him sick” because it was not on fire for the Lord God. Yes, I could write this in a theological term to make it sound good, however, would it be rightly dividing the word of truth according to the scriptures in Revelation 3:14-22. For I do not see where Christ described this church in any other way than that it made Him sick.
I believe that God and Christ does have, a plan for every church on this earth and I further believe that we are to have a spiritual zeal and a spiritual fi re for accomplishing the goals of Christ for the church. In addition, there is one clear fact that the church of Laodicea was not accomplishing what it should be doing. The point is that Laodicea had lost its purpose and therefore it got to the point where it was no longer and the Lord points out three kinds of people in the church that can cause the real problem. The first is the individual person who is spiritually cold. The second kind of individual person is spiritually hot and the third individual person is the spiritually lukewarm person. Can you find any of these within the church today and if so what kind of problems to they represent in the church?
I believe that I would be safe in saying that this describes millions of Christians today if we look hard enough. Our Lord and Savior described each of these three kinds of people in this way that they are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked Revelation 3:17. When I began to look for a deeper understanding of this text of scripture that Spirit of the Lord begin to reveal the spiritual understanding that these individuals was seeking worldly fullness, and earthly treasures, as well as being self-righteous and full of spiritual pride, and finally they were full of self-deception. Then I would ask you this can the church be true to the will of God and bear this kind of attitude toward the word of God and His Son who die for our sins? In addition, can the church run on this kind of human power long before it dies? Moreover, do these kinds of individuals cause the Spirit of God to turn away?
Next, we need to look at what the Lord look at more fully how the Lord responded to this church with these words the first words of instructions was to hear Christ counsel Revelation 3:18. The second thing the Lord instructed them to do was to anoint their eyes that they may gain sight. This anoint of the eyes comes with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to give you spiritual eyes to have spiritual sight. In addition, I do not believe that the Lord was speaking about their natural sight, however, about their spiritual sight that comes on the day of baptism. Yes, there are many individuals who believe that there are two baptisms; however, I believe we get them all when we are baptized.
I further believe that in Christ counsel He was also showing His compassion for His people. I also find not only with Christ but also with His apostles the spoken word of discipline that means correction, instructions, as a parent would correct their child. Yes, this message is for the church today that it makes them aware to beware of the coming days pass the word to make ready the return of Christ our Lord. Yes, the church today like the church at Laodicea I believe is in no way ready for the Lord to return for His Bride for it is a church on the fence. Therefore, let me say it is time for the church to get off the fence and quite being a church of dullness, insensitive, unconcerned, for are Lord called for an alert church, and awake church, and a ready church. My final remark is church are you ready to welcome Him!
DID JESUS SEND A MESSAGE TO EACH CHURCH ABOUT THE COMING DAYS?
As I address each of these seven churches, I will not go into great detail about how each message the Jesus sent deals with the coming days. However, I will be referring back to each of these churches from time to time. For most Christians when it comes to the book of Revelation feel it is a book of doom and gloom, in addition, they also feel that it is too hard to understand. Yet there is also this way of stating why Christians as well as some pastors do not teach the book of Revelation. I believe that just one of the reasons might be because they take this attitude that they would rather teach love than teach the severe events that are coming as well as the extreme judgments that take place in the seals, trumpets, and the seven last plagues which shows God’s fury being poured out upon this earth. Let me add this thought I have watched many biblical movies and I can say honestly that with all their special effects will not even be able to duplicate the coming events in the coming days.
I further believe that it would be safe is saying why God and His Son wants us to read the Revelation of Jesus Christ so that each and every Christian will know exactly what will take place before His coming and the New Jerusalem comes down from God. The very sad thing to say is that many people will pick up a book of fiction or novel and read it all the way through, however; when it comes to the Bible, they may read a chapter at a time and many times will not finish the chapter. In addition, they will avoid reading the book of Revelation. Let me give you this example why: Many years ago, I watch the western movie called The Good, The Ugly, and the Bad and I can say with all honesty you can find all of this in the book of Revelation. The main reason for what has just been stated is I believe that every Christian man or woman should know exactly what will take place in the coming days about the Great White Throne Judgment, the promises of Christ, and finally His warnings about the coming days.
These seven messages when I done them I believed they were for the church, however, today as I write about another one of the great truth of the coming days which the Spirit of God is now bringing a new revelation to the church about the purpose of Jesus message unto the angel of the church. In addition, when we consider Jesus messages to the seven churches then this question comes to mind: If Jesus was here on this earth today which church would He attend? I ask this question in regards to the messages Jesus sent unto the seven angels in seven churches in Asia.
Now with each church the Spirit of God said that you are dealing with a new revelation as well as writing about the coming days and the messages which were sent unto seven churches. Moreover, remember you are writing a new concept from the traditional teaching within the church today. So, I began to pray for guidance about where to begin and what the Lord Jesus wanted me to write about the messages, He sent to the seven churches in this new concept about the coming days and how did it pertain to the rest of the book of Revelation. Then the Spirit of God reminded me that people do not like change as well as about this fact that I must stick to what the Lord is saying about the coming days.
“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” (Revelation 2:5 KJV)
Yes, to the traditional teaching on this text of scriptures here in Revelation 2:5 where the Lord was speaking to the church at Ephesus about their loss of their first love of what He would do because of this loss; and yes, I will agree with that teaching, however, there is more much more. When we consider the very word repent, then we must also consider and how many times repent is stated in the Revelation of Jesus Christ which is referred to many times throughout the book of Revelation is the Lord just talking about the non-believers or is He talking to the church also.
Another thing we need to consider from this text of scripture regarding the coming days and that is that the Lord states for Ephesus to repent “or else” I know for years I have read what the Lord has state here many times, however, one day the truth hit me of what the Lord was truly stating and what the Lord was saying it was in this term of reality that you do not have any choice you do or you don’t for I the Lord will do what I say. After this revelation of which the Lord gave to me, I began to look for a complete understanding so I began to look at other translations of the Holy Scriptures to see how they translated this term and found that they did not state it as strongly as the King James Version state it here in Revelation 2:5.
“Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold the devil shall cast some of you in prison, that ye be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.” (Revelation 2:1o KJV)
The church of Smyrna is known and taught by many as the persecuted church. Yes, as you study and teach many will addresses you with the same question: What does this have to do with the coming days. I believe that Jesus sent this message to Smyrna to give them encouragement in their hour of tribulation that would come from the devil. However, when we look at the vision of the seven seals and the vision of the seven trumpets alone we can find much persecution that will fall upon the earth. Then we must also remember the persecution that will fall upon people who will not take the mark of the beast that will take place in the days to come.
“But I have a few things against thee, because that thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.” (Revelation 2:14 KJV)
When I personally consider the statement that the Lord gives here to the church at Pergamos makes me stop and wonder how many Christian people even fear this statement of the Lord: “But I have a few things against thee.” In addition, I also remember the words of the apostle Paul where he stated “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23. The real problem here is in the fact they are not holding on to the word of God but of the false doctrine of Balaam. Christ, I believe is saying to the people then as well as today if they continue to hold to the false doctrine of Balaam and continue to cast a stumbling block before people that He the Lord will fight with the sword of His mouth Revelation 2:16.
Consider this about the coming days and the spiritual evil that is in the false doctrine that creates spiritual warfare in your life and others. Maybe the best way of saying this spiritual warfare is the conflict it causes within yourself, with others, and within the church. I bring out this point of view to say that when the beast comes there will be a conflict if you do not follow his doctrine and worship him that is coming in the days ahead. I will even be so bold as to say that upholding the false doctrine of Balaam is to compromise your faith in the Lord God Almighty.
“Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest the woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce my servants to commit fornication, and eat things sacrificed unto idols.” (Revelation 2:20 KJV)
Now with the church of Thyatira one of the main things that the Lord Jesus Christ is proclaiming His warning for the coming days is about the woman who calls herself prophetess within the church. Do we have that problem within the church today if so, why do we have this problem? Will this create problems for the church in the coming days if so how? Is this one of the great problems with spiritual warfare in the church today? The logic for these questions is it leading the church into the hands of the beast? Later in my writing about the beast and his mark I will deal with this more fully that relate to the coming days. Again, it is well to note that the Lord stated that He had a few things against thee, therefore, I further believe that we should not take this statement of the Lord’s lightly for it is a strong statement from the Lord of which the church as well as every Christian would do well to take heed. I state this for I truly believe that because we the church takes light the book of Revelation and its warning of the coming days the church is asleep or one might say not living up to its duty to proclaim the gospel of Christ and the Lord’s teaching of the coming days.
“Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.” (Revelation 3:2 KJV)
It is truly noteworthy for us to truly consider what the Lord has stated to the church at Sardis to be watchful. I have said it in some of my other writings that the church has fallen asleep for many reasons the church has become lack in watching for the Lord and His return. In addition, it is well also to take note that the Lord tells Sardis to strengthen the things which remain, therefore they still have some of the works that the Lord called them to do. In the coming days according to the book of Revelation ever individual who walks upon the face of this earth will need all the strength that they can have to face all the things that shall take place in the coming days. What is so sad that there are many individuals who feel and believe that they have nothing to do for the Lord only believes in Him and that will be enough.
“Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, the no man take thy crown.” (Revelation 3:11 KJV)
Now every Christian who reads the Holy Scriptures knows that the church at Philadelphia is a loyal and faithful church unto the Lord, yet Jesus reminds them that they hold fast to what they have that no man takes their crown. The thing that the Lord is bring out to my understanding is that even though Philadelphia was a faithful church there is still that fact that they could fall into temptation by the actions of man.
“So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:16 KJV)
There is so much that one could write about this spiritual condition of which Christ is stating here to the church at Laodicea. Is it just me or is it so noticeable that today church is showing the spiritual condition of the church at Laodicea by being lukewarm and not on fire with a spiritual fire that is of the Lord. One might say that we the members of the Body of Christ in today’s world can honestly say that we are not sure of anything and that Christians are like fish floundering around with no spiritual direction that we believe that we can follow Matthew 9:36. Furthermore, it is sad to state that there are many churches and pastors who are resorting to world methods to attract more people into their churches. Now in the coming days I believe it is safe in saying the God’s Son Himself will take action against those who continue to walk in a lukewarm spiritual condition that has taken place in every stage of the church. Chapter Two
