RECORDED IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Now in this chapter we begin to reveal what takes place after the seven churches and the opening of six of the seals. In addition, we will look at some of John’s experience in the throne room of God in the presence of God. Not only is the book of Revelation a prophetic book of the coming days it is also all about all of the events that will take place in the Lord’s revelation to bring all of God’s creation back to the purpose of why God created us. One might also interpret that the book of Revelation is the fulfillment of God’s Son’s revelation that brings all things on this earth to a close as well as the church age. However, one might also interpret that this is God’s final warning before He pours out His wrath upon this earth. Therefore, the task of the writing of this book of beware of the coming days pass the word is about how serious it is to neglect the prophecy of the book of Revelation. All too many individuals say they do not study the book of Revelation is because of the symbols used in Revelation or it is too difficult for me to understand, in addition, of the harsh things that is going to take place in the last days. However, it is sad to say that all must come to understand, that what is recorded in the pages of the book of Revelation is unfolding all around us.
“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Revelation 1:3 NKJV
One of the things all people want especially the Christians is for God to bless them and yet our Lord gives that blessing to those who read, hear, and keep the words of the prophecy written in the book of Revelation. Moreover, the Lord gives six other blessing found in the book of Revelation and the one this writer wants to be in is the blessing found in Revelation 20:6 “Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:6 NKJV) Let me add this thought that to be in this part one must walk in the commandment of the Lord God and His Son’s commandments for the Lord said if you love me keep my commandments john 14:15.
In the first chapter of this book I wrote about seven messages I preached about the seven churches. In addition, I wrote a brief understanding about what Paul wrote to Timothy about the last days. At this point I believe that it is well to remind you that we are moving from the seven churches still deeper in the future of the coming days and the events that are to come. In addition, one might interpret that we the Body of Christ are living in “the things which are” awaiting the return of our Lord. However, as we must also consider this time period also “the things which must be hereafter”. Now let us move forward unto chapter four and John’s vision now moves to the throne room of God before we get to where the Lord is given the book which is sealed with the seven seals.
THE VISION OF THE THRONE ROOM OF GOD WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH THE COMING DAYS?
Now earlier it is well to note over that I wrote and taught about the seven messages about the seven churches therefore with these seven messages you read in chapter one must keep in mind as move from the seven churches and the Lord’s messages to the churches now directs our attention to move to John’s vision in the throne room of God in Revelation chapter four. However, in this chapter there are many important elements or key issues which as members of the Body of Christ or the modern-day evangelical church needs to understood about the importance of John’s vision in the Throne Room of God and the Lord’s reasoning for revealing it unto John concerning the coming days. Moreover, what does it have to do with the coming days recorded in the book of Revelation? However, there is a vast source of information here in Revelation 4 that leads to the river proceeding out of the throne of God and the Lamb Revelation 22:1. Moreover, there is much revealed throughout the Holy Scriptures regarding Revelation 4 and the Throne of God.
Now that we are coming into the throne room of God it is fitting to say that we are coming into the sovereign presence of God. Here is a reminder to let you know that the church plays a prominent role in the first three chapters of book of Revelation. However, most traditional teaching teach about the fact that the church not mention until chapter 22 and yes it is not state with the word church, however, I cannot help it by making this statement according to what the Lord states to John in Revelation 1:11 where the Lord tells John to write a book and send to the churches in Asia that the rest of the book of Revelation is directed at the church and for the church.
To begin with the Spirit of God keeps showing me many things about what John will experience in his visions of the coming days and how that all of these events of the coming days begins with the one who sits on the throne. Throughout this chapter the apostle John is writing what he hears and what he sees to send to Israel, the church, and the last days. This could also be interpreted as to what John heard spiritually and what he sees with his eyes of what is spiritual.
“After this I looked, and behold, a door was opened in heaven: And the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be here after. 2 And immediately I was in the Spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.” (Revelation 4:1-2 KJV)
The key phrases which pertain to the coming days is “after this” and “the things which must be hereafter.” The reasoning for stating these two key phrases that the apostle John is now moving forward with the prophetic revelation to help people to understand the glory of heaven and what will take place around the throne of God.
The very first thing we need to consider is that John is standing in the open door when heaven’s door was opened. Now in the Old Testament in the book of Ezekiel 1:1 you find that the prophet Ezekiel vision open with the heavens were opened we see that John was not the first to see the door of heaven opened. One of the important things which I see and feel with excitement here in John’s vision is we now therefore get just a glimpse of God’s eternal dwelling place. In addition, I see and believe that God now chooses to reveal Himself where all things pertaining to our creation began.
The very next thing that takes place again, John was in the Spirit instantly and he saw someone sitting on the Throne or in the presence of God. We can also parallel this of being in the Spirit with the prophet Ezekiel where the prophet is carried away in the Spirit Ezekiel 11:1 and verse 5. There is yet another important factor that needs to be considered and that is that John is allowing the Spirit to bring him into the present of the Throne Room of God and in the presence of God. One might also interpret it as John being spiritually ready or spiritually receptivity to the Spirit of God which also took place in Revelation 1:10 for both texts of scriptures that John was in the Spirit. Even though John does not see God’s face he is still in the presence of Almighty God.
What a powerful impact this must have had on John while he stands in the midst of God and in God’s Throne Room. With all of this in mind use all of your reasoning and logic of what John was about to write after being in the Throne Room of God. A personal thought of what gives me encouragement is to think that John had to be given by the Lord something special, to prepare him for what he was about write and what the Lord was about to show unto him about the coming days and to me this is special to see the Throne Room of God written in Revelation 4.
Again, God in the throne room and what was being explained in John’s vision the day will come when we the church will be part of that worship of the one sitting on the throne. The key element to Revelation 4:1 I believe, that it signifies entrance not only to John in his vision but also the church today by the Revelation of Jesus Christ that we have entrance into the kingdom of heaven. It is well to take note of how this first verse of scripture proclaims that a voice spoke unto John and said come up here and I will show you the things that must happen. Remember that it is well to keep in mind Revelation 1:11 Jesus states “what you see write in a book” and now John is address to come up and he will be shown the things that must happen. Therefore, one might also interpret that specifically that John was to come see and hear about the future events to come and for Israel, the church and the last days. Furthermore, I believe that the book of Revelation is describing the events that are yet to come as well as the events to come in this stage of the church age in the last days. For we find in the gospel of Matthew chapter 24:31 where the Lord sends out His angels with the sound of the trumpet which will gather together His chosen ones or chosen people.
Again, I say that there are many important things I believe we ought to understand about the Throne Room of God. You will find that the entire chapter of Revelation 4 and chapter five is John’s vision of the Throne Room of God. It is well to note and remember that the whole book of Revelation is about the events of the coming days and therefore take heed of this prophetic word for it involves you. Before, I break down the many aspect of this chapter of John’s vision of the Throne Room of God let me ask you this question: What are the lessons we should learn for ourselves as well as the rest of the Body of Christ regarding the coming days and the Throne of God? Furthermore, I cannot speak for anyone else’s interpretation of chapter four here in Revelation, the only thing I can relate is what the Spirit of God reveals unto me personally. There is however, one thing you can be sure of and interpret of what John seen while he was in the Spirit, he saw the image of God sitting on His Throne and all of the surrounding around the Throne of God. In addition, I feel that any thought that John might have had was not about the past, present, or the future. I cannot help but think that the one thing that was on John’s mind I am in the presence of the Almighty God.
“And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. 4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. 5 And out of the throne proceeded lighting and thundering and voices: and there were seven lamps of fi re burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.” (Revelation 4:3-5 KJV)
Now John being in the Spirit sees the present of God and sees the radiance of God which shines like an emerald and other precious stones and the rainbow represents the everlasting covenant that God made with the earth not to be destroyed by water and the rainbow was the seal of that covenant. Now in verse four one might interpret that the twelve elders are from the twelve tribes of Israel that came out of great tribulation. In addition, one might interpret that these twelve elders are the twelve apostles. Each of these elders is clothed in white robes and each has a crown of gold on their head.
In verse 5 it begins with the description that out of the throne comes thunder and lighting and thundering voices. Thunder is stated many times throughout the book of Revelation. These are some of the ways it is written throughout the book of Revelation states the thunder with voices from heaven, the altar and one might also say from the temple of God. Another example is one of the four living creatures speaks with the voice of thunder while the seals were being open Revelation 6:1. Then in Revelation 8:5 it also states that thunder and lighting and an earthquake took place when the angel takes the incense from the altar. In addition, you will find in Revelation 16 that thunder and lightning take place when the seven last plagues are poured out Revelation 16:18. It can also be interpreted that lightning and thunder shows the awesome majesty of God even going back to Mount Sinai where God made His first covenant with Israel.
Now as we consider verse 5 there is what I feel is twofold for we see here that John writes that there were seven lamps of fi re burning while in Revelation 1 it states seven Spirit before the throne. One of the most important things I see about those present in the Throne Room of God are the seven Spirits of God before the Throne of God. Now you will see that the seven Spirits of God in Revelation 5:6 are sent into all the earth, therefore, bring up the question: what are the seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth? Yes, many teach and believe that these Spirits of God represents the Holy Spirit and in one way I can agree, however if they are seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth what is their purpose within the Body of Christ today. Some years back I wrote about the study of seven and it began with the prophetic word of the prophet Isaiah and the seven Spirits that would fall upon Christ Isaiah 11:2.
These seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth is an essential element of God’s Spirit, God’s wisdom, God’s counsel, God’s understanding, God’s knowledge, God’s might, as well as the fear of the Lord. When I speak about the fear of the Lord it is that I must reverence the Lord God in all that I do in my own personal life. In addition, I can say with all honesty that to fear the Lord God that His delight is in the fact that we reverence Him. All seven of these Spirit of God that was sent into all the earth came on the day that John the Baptist baptize the Lord Jesus Christ when the dove descended upon the Lord this is what I believe and understand.
I further believe that the significant key element is Jesus voice speaking in the Throne Room of God as well as the voice of God. Some many interpret that the voice that John heard was the voice of an angel, however, to my understanding comparing the text in Revelation 1:10 the voice behind John I believe was the voice of the Lord and this is the same voice with an invitation to come and see. Yes, you can read about other voices in the book of Revelation for example the voices of the seven thunders.
Now you also can hear the voices of worship in the Throne Room of God from the four living creatures saying holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty Revelation 4:8. The four living creatures and twenty-four elders show their godly reverence unto God here in the Throne Room of God. The point I am trying to make is that God is to be honor in everything we do and that He is Omnipotence and we should worship Him with all humility. For when we read the text of Revelation 4:11 it is clear that to show that God is worthy to receive all glory and honor.
“And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7 And the first beast was like a loin, and the second beast was like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. 9 And when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,” (Revelation 4:6-9 KJV)
Then John see “in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures the Lamb as if it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth” Revelation 5:6 NKJV.
When you study the book of Revelation you can find many texts form the Old Testament to help you developed an understanding of how the apostle John wrote the book of Revelation. I state this to show you with this example: That in this text of scripture you should be able to see that when Christ came to the earth, He brought with Him the seven Spirits of God. These seven Spirits of God is prophesied by the prophet Isaiah and that they would fall upon Christ Isaiah 11:2. You can also find these references to the seven Spirits and that they are entirely of the power of God compare these two references when you study Zechariah 4:10 with Isaiah 11:2. It is well to note also that the book of Revelation is referred to as the book of seven. Now again we find the worship in the vision of John only this time it is the worship of the Lamb of God and with the “number of them ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands” Revelation 5:11.
“The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:10-11 KJV)
While we are still in the Throne Room of God there is a scroll written inside and on the back side with seven seals Revelation 5:1. The question that I have always asked and to me is unsolvable no one on earth nor in heaven found worthy to open the seals: My question is where was the Lord? This is a question I believe each and every Christians has about this text of scripture. Then one of the elders around the throne speaks unto John and states words of encouragement unto John that the root of David from the tribe of Judah was found worthy for He has prevailed to open the scroll Revelation 5:5. This reminds me of the covenant that God made with David that He would out of David’s seed establish a throne of his kingdom forever 2 Samuel 7:13.
“And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. 4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.” (Revelation 5:1-4 KJV)
You will find that this chapter in Revelation 5 that we are still in the throne room and it begins with a new revelation is now introduced. This part of John’s vision gives to my understanding which is that there is only one who powerful enough to receive the book from the right hand from the one who sit on the throne. First of all, considering this point that the right hand represents the authority and power of God and the Son of God is the only one I know that has gained that power.
There are many things that can be interpreted about the sealed book that is held in the right hand of whom sat on the throne. So, let us begin our search for answers about this book that is sealed. One might interpret that it holds the history of mankind. Another might interpret it as it holds all of mankind’s deeds, they have done from the beginning of creation for the book is written on the inside and outside. The real question which takes place in these texts of scriptures I believe is in this question: Who is worthy to open the book and who hold the right authority to open the book. In addition, the question is asked “Who is worthy to open the book?” Then we must also consider this question: What is this book? One might also say that this sealed book goes back to the prophet Daniel when God told Daniel to close the book and seal the book till the end of time Daniel 12:4. I will agree that all of these questions regarding the sealed here in Revelation 5 have their rightful place of understanding in regards to who is worthy to open the seals.
“And one of the elders saith unto me, weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and loose the seven seals thereof. 6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” (Revelation 5:5-6 KJV)
There are some very important key elements in these two texts of scriptures that was the promise of God given unto David recorded in 2 Samuel 7 that out of David God would establish an eternal kingdom. However, to my understanding the real vital key element for the coming days is to understand why the description of the Lamb and the seven Spirits that was sent into all the earth here is so important to the church today and in the coming days. For in the coming days for the seven Spirits that was sent into all the earth holds seven vital elements that mankind needs for our walk of faith in the Lord God Almighty. You will find in the prophetic word of the prophet Isaiah where he prophesies about the seven Spirits that would fall upon Christ Isaiah 11:2.
The seven Spirits of God that was sent into all the earth is to give guidance unto mankind which gives knowledge, wisdom, and counsel to mankind and this is just three of the Spirits sent into all the earth. In addition, I also believe that the seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth is the works of God indwelling in us.
“And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. 8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vails full of odors, which are the prayers of saints. 9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. 11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the four beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and a thousands of thousands; 12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all of them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshiped him that liveth for ever and ever.” (Revelation 5:7-14 KJV)
One of the most important things that I see in these texts of scriptures is the order of worship that will take place in the kingdom of heaven in the coming days.
THE OPENING OF THE SEALS
Today in this modern generation of the Body of Christ I thank God for so many who bring their understanding of the book of Revelation regarding the coming days and to say the least it can only be a grim picture of doom and gloom. Yes, they all do not hold the same opinion; however, they all agree that it is the prophetic word of the Lord God.
Even though the book of Revelation was given in such a mysterious manner one might also take note that according to the prophetic word of the prophet Daniel this book was to be sealed up until the end of time. In addition, if God did not want anything revealed, He never would have revealed it in the first place. In the opening of the seals it is from this point on that opens or reveals the details or the marks the importance of the progressive revelation of the prophetic events of judgments that will take place upon this earth. Nowhere in the Holy Scriptures have the scenes of what take place on the earth or the earthly struggles that unfolded as it does here in Revelation 6. One might also interpret this chapter as the beginning days of God’s wrath.
However, you can also find many places in the Holy Scriptures that states that all things are done in God’s time not mankind’s way. Therefore, one might address the seven seals on the scroll as information that contains certain secret that only God knows until His appointed time to have the Lamb of God open its content. I further believe that the seven seals contain or holds the conditions that will take place upon the earth in a time frame until the antichrist appears with the beast. One might also interpret that with the opening of the seals is God’s and Christ early warning signs.
Before, we get into the seals I believe that it is imperative that everyone understands this that I am writing is with a good understanding of the coming days and showing what will transpire upon this earth until all of God’s wrath is finished. For you can read throughout the Holy Scriptures much pertaining to the latter days or latter times and I believe that God is speaking through the entire book of the Holy Scriptures to Israel, the church, and the last days. In addition, let me remind you that the entire book of Revelation covers the whole process of the church age from when it began through to the Day of Judgment.
Furthermore, we all need to know and understand that there will increase and intensify as we draw nearer to the fulfilling of this Holy Revelation of the coming days. Now we must in addition remember that the apostle Paul wrote that these things had to happen before the Day of the Lord would come, that there had to be a great falling away of the faith and that the son of perdition had to be revealed 2 Thessalonians 2:3. I further believe that this will be the day and the hour that you will truly see the Divine Prophecy of the book of Revelation coming to past. Therefore, I can only say one thing beware of the coming days pass the word. The first four seals and their riders are also known as the four horsemen of the apocalypse and are consider as demonic.
Note that in the first verse of scripture here in chapter six of Revelation John stated that he heard the four living creatures says with voices of thunder saying come and see. If you remember that in Revelation 1:11 the Lord tells John to write what he sees and write a book and send to the seven churches.
THE LAMB OPENS THE SEVEN SEALS
“Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice of thunder, “Come and see.” (Revelation 6:1 NKJV)
Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals
Before we get right into the Lamb of God opening the seven seals, I believe at this time it is well to note that you should also consider Matthew 24 with the seven seals for the Lord gave unto His disciples and outline or preface of the seven seals which John would write. Therefore, let us compare some of the key elements that the Lord gave to His disciples in Matthew 24. There are these six key elements in Matthew 24 which you can compare with Revelation, however, I believe each of these elements will help you to understand how to interpret the seals better.
LIST OF THE SIX KEY ELEMENTS
Here is an outline in both Matthew 24 and Revelation 6
False Christ’s Revelation 6:1, 2; Matthew 24:4, 5, 23- 25
War Revelation 6:3, 4; Matthew 24:6, 7
Famine Revelation 6:5, 6; Matt. 24:7
Death Revelation 6:7, 8; Matthew 24:7-9
Martyrdom Revelation 6:9-11; Matthew 24:9, 10, 16-22
The sun darkened, the moon darkened, and the stars falling Revelation 6:12-14; Matthew 24:29 A time of divine judgment Revelation 6:15-17; Matthew 24:32-51
One could also interpret it in this manner. The first is religious deception, of the false Christ, or the antichrist Matthew 24:4-4, 11, 23-25 with Revelation 6:1-2, and the second key element is war which is the second seal. The third key element in Matthew 24:7 is famine which is the third seal in Revelation 6:5-6, now the fourth element also found in Matthew 24:7 is pestilences or disease. Now the fifth key element is tribulation in Matthew 24:8-12, 21- 22, compare with these texts of scriptures in Revelation 6:9-11. The sixth key element in Matthew 24:29 is the heavenly signs compared with Revelation 6:12-17. I would like to make this statement that I am not just writing this book because I have any special understanding, special gift, or being a prophet regarding the book of Revelation about the Revelation of Jesus Christ. My logic for writing is to point out the comparison of the scriptures form which I have stated above from the gospel Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 because of what Christ told His disciples when they ask what will be the signs of His return and the end of the world or the end of the age. What the disciple asked was this Matthew 24:3 “What will be the sign of Your coming, and the end of the age?” (NKJV) I can say with all honesty that this question has been addressed by many in the Body of Christ sense the day that the Lord’s disciples asked this question.
Therefore, as we study the seven seals, I believe that it would be well to keep this question in mind to see how the prophetic word of Revelation 6 compares with what The Lord spoke unto His disciples. However, the order of which the Lord spoke to His disciples to my understanding are very close with what John writes about the seven seals. One might also interpret that from the time the Lord open the first seal is the opening of the days when we will see the full wrath of God to come upon this earth. Let me add before we go any further all Christians must remember that this prophetic word includes the Jews as well as the Gentiles of what will take place in the coming days.
THE FIRST SEAL
“Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice of thunder, “Come and see.” 2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.” (Revelation 6:1-2 NKJV)
Before, I get into interpreting the seals here in Revelation chapter 6 let me say this that you will find throughout the book of Revelation many different symbols as well as many interpretations by many writers or interpreters of this book of Revelation and only Christ can open up your understanding to His Revelation. I state this because of what is written in three of the gospels that is the beginning of unlocking our understanding to the book of Revelation and the coming days. (Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21)
In addition, look at what the apostle Peter states: “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21 NIV)
Back many years ago when I first went into the ministry and old pastor friend of mine told me to let the Holy Scriptures do the talking out of this came this understanding, we must let the scriptures interpret what God wants interpreted. And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.” (Revelation 6:2 NKJV)
Most interpreters of this chapter on the opening of the seals interpret this horseman as Christ and from my understanding it cannot be, because of what the Lord tells His disciples in Matthew 24, therefore, it has to be the antichrist. Yes, there is much discourse over this first seal and who the rider is on the white horse. Therefore, to help your understanding I am going try and interpreted this rider from many different ways of interpreting this rider. To begin, to the unsuspecting world this rider on the white horse looks like Christ, or looks like the savior of mankind, however, he deceiver which is the antichrist. Yet there is yet another key factor which must be consider when one is interpreting this rider on the white horse that both Christ and the antichrist are referred to as “prince” in addition, when you consider the word “anti” which means the regal imposter is not only opposed or against Christ. However, one might also interpret that the antichrist is one who make himself look like a substitute for the real and true Christ.
Yet here is another point of logic or reasoning is in this understanding that everything in regards to Christ is with a sword not a bow. Now again I must remind you that there are those who teach that this first rider or horseman on the white horse is Christ. Yes, that is possible, however, I have a problem with that interpretation which is form this point of logic for if Christ is the one holding the scroll and opening the seal then how can He be the rider on the white horse. This horseman is the antichrist that is found in the prophetic word in the book of Daniel. One might say it in this manner that this horseman is a counterfeit Christ of which the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Thessalonians 2:8. To my own personal understanding this horseman is none other than Satan himself; I state this because his conquering conquest and desire is to destroy the will of God in the Body of Christ.
Most people may think that the other horsemen or riders cause a far more greater catastrophes than this first horseman for it only has a bow only with no arrows. When in this reality he is far more dangerous and gruesome than the other three horsemen. I state this because what occurs and that is those of which he conquerors are men’s souls or the souls of mankind with deception and therefore he is the deadliest of them all. As he rides with his conquering spirit, he is bringing in the day and time of the beast and the antichrist which will cause more tribulation upon mankind.
Yet today men and women are so casual and shallow in their belief that they fail to see the deception of this horseman. In addition, let me add what Paul wrote to the church at Corinth in his second letter you find Paul’s words to be: “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:13-14 NIV) I further believe that this horseman of the apocalypse is about the world deception to remove people from the Lord God.
We find here in verse 1 that the apostle John starts this important fact that when the Lamb opens the first seal that one of the four living creatures spoke unto him with a voice of thunder, therefore, one might interpret that this living creature was filled with such excitement about the opening of the seal. The is yet another thing to consider and this I believe that now for the first time God is beginning to reveal what he told the prophet Daniel to close up until the end of time.
This rider or horseman on the white horse enters this world with the spirit of conquest. This rider also brings with it the spirit that desire to have world domination. One might also interpret that this horseman also has the spirits which is to bring about one-world government with the antichrist or the beast Revelation 17:17. Then you will find in the Old Testament in the book of Zechariah 1:8 in his prophetic vision of a white horse. However, later in the book of we see another white horse with a rider coming out of heaven with all the armies which were in heaven followed Him Revelation 19:11-16. Yes, the rider on this horse in Revelation 19 is our Savior.
When we consider the bow, I believe it can be both a literal or figurative manner in one’s interpretation. However, is that what the Lord wants us to understand for during that age of time with the Roman soldiers would not have been their choice of weapon and in today’s modern warfare it would be useless. I believe that the Lord wants us to understand that it is a weapon of war and in this day and age there is much warfare going on in the world today.
Now there is also a crown given unto this rider and one could interpret it in two ways the first is that he does not take authority, however, he is given authority for his conquest. Now the second way one could interpret this crown as a victor’s crown in his strategical means for conquering. One must also consider that this rider goes forth with a purpose which to many present many questions about his purpose. The only thing I can say is that what he is to conquer is not stated.
THE SECOND SEAL
“When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” 4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one that sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people would kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.” (Revelation 6:3-4 NKJV)
I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” The second living creature has showing unto John that the Lamb of God is now sending forth rider on the red horse with his bloody warfare. Furthermore, a distinct form of the wars which I believe will come about by this rider of which the Lord spoke of in Matthew 24. Now remember that in the first seal has been opened and this horseman is perhaps the least understood because and yet it brings more destruction within the world because of its authority to take peace from the earth and to bring about universal destruction. In addition, my reason for stating it in this manner for I believe few truly understand or comprehend the meaning of the four horsemen which are vital keys for the coming days as well as showing us what will come in the trumpets and the last plagues which will be even more destructive to the earth. Therefore, we must be mindful to consider fully all of the prophetic word that unlocks our understanding of the book of Revelation. I believe it is safe in saying if any individual refuses to read or look at the prophetic word of Christ of what has revealed of what is to come then Satan has succeeded in his universal deception.
It is well to note that John hears from the second living creature when Christ opens the second seal and it speaks to John to come and see. Now I believe that the red horse and its color means bloodshed or war and at this rider appearance will usher in many deadly wars. I state this because the rider on this horse is granted to take peace from the earth, furthermore, that people should kill one another. Now the prophet Zechariah in his prophetic vision states he saw a man riding on a red horse in this vision is also mention a white horse and a sorrel horse.
Now the Lord speaks unto Zechariah and says that these horses are to go, to and fro throughout the earth while it is resting quietly Zechariah 1:8-10. Yet there is another prophetic vision of Zechariah that speaks of four chariots and the second chariot has red horses Zechariah 6:2. Here is just another way of interpreting the opening of the second seal and the red horse and the horseman. I believe that this horseman illustrates that peace will be removed from the earth and will cause conflict everywhere upon the face of the earth. In addition, we are seeing this conflict today as well as throughout the pages of history of wars and rumors of war, and furthermore, of a worldwide threat of war or the final battle. I bring this to your attention that it is well to take note that the events of the seals I believe are unfolding right before our very eyes according to the gospel of Matthew 24 and the book of Revelation.
What I find to be quite interesting is that these four chariots represent four spirits of heaven that go forth from their station and the go north and south. Moreover, we must also remember the words of our Lord spoke in the gospel of Matthew chapter ten verse thirty-four when He states this question: “Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” (Matthew 10:34 NKJV) I cannot speak for anyone else about the coming days, however, I see the prophetic word of the book of Revelation and these seven seals unfolding every day for on the news you hear of these events taking place all around us. Yet one might also interpret that the earth is speaking of worldwide events taking place. Then the sword given here is also interpreted as an instrument of death and in this seal, it might also be interpreted as mass destruction. If we look at a real truth, we will be very foolish if we believe that the world can have peace in the coming days as long as we live godless lives, I state this for the opening of the seals are just a taste of the awful events ahead.
THE THIRD SEAL
“When He had opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6 NKJV)
Christ has now opened the third seal and the third living creature says come and see has the same element as the first two seals? John looked and saw the black horse and the horseman that sat upon him and this horseman had a pair of scales. Most teach about famine and that is right, however, I also believe that what John is describing could have a number of interpretations. For example, the day and time of worldwide hunger that will cause much conspiracy among people and government. In addition, this could also be interpreted as a time of spiritual darkness connected with worldly wisdom and power. I speak about this worldwide hunger because of what we call today inflation and this is inflation at its worst possible conclusion.
This is another factor that must be consider about this horseman holds no weapon of warfare he only holds a set of scales in his hand. The scales could also be interpreted as the strictest form of rationing food like the aftermath of war. You will find in the book of Lamentations 4:9 where it speaks these words: “Those slain by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger; for these pine away, stricken for the lack of fruits of the field.” (Lamentations 4:9 NKJV)
The prophet Ezekiel speaks of eating of food by weight Ezekiel 4:9-11 for the prophet is also to drink water by measure. Even yet another event recorded in the scriptures found in the book of Leviticus 26:26 the Lord speaks about when He cuts off the bread supply and the women will bake bread and they shall eat by weight. In these texts of scriptures, I have just stated I believe one might interpret what John is relating from this seal is describing the price of famine but the price of starvation.
THE FOURTH SEAL
“When He had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the forth living creature saying, “Come and see.” 8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name that sat on it was death, and Hades followed him. And power was given to them over a fourth part of the earth, to kill with the sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beast of the earth.” (Revelation 6:7-8 NKJV)
Now John states again from the fourth living creature come and see? John said “and behold a pale horse” and the horseman that sat upon the pale horse was of death and hades followed him. The Greek word for pale means “green” the actual color of green. Note that this horseman is given power over a fourth part of the earth to kill with the sword and with hunger. One might also interpret this horseman of having a corpselike figure. As we have seen in the other three seals that peace was taken, and that there was a worldwide famine, and war now we are looking at the horseman that death follows. Furthermore, all of these seals to this point of the coming days are indicating that the end is near.
Just a wild guest on my part, that with the world’s population today that this horseman will take the lives of over a billion people by killing and hunger. We saw in the third seal that of famine and again we see with this horseman the same disasters that plagues this earth during the coming days or the end times. The Lord spoke of these things in the gospel of Matthew 24 where He stated that there would be pestilences, famines, and earthquakes in various places Matthew 24:7. If you have been keeping up with the world news you can relate that much of this is happening right now in our day. And if I may be so bold, I believe that this is the fourth seal that has been opened.
Here the apostle John describes a horseman that death and hell follows him. To my own understanding this is a devastating picture of the coming days that will fall upon all. This seal reminds me of what the prophet Jeremiah stated in his prophecy: “Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; and it is a time of Jacob’s trouble, but he will be saved out of it.” (Jeremiah 30:7 NKJV) The name of Jacob also means Israel for that is the name that God gave to Jacob that corresponds with Israel’s troubles if I understand the history of the Holy Scriptures. Out of even our human blindness and darkness, and of the hour of our insecurity especially with trying to build our faith on the return of Christ to get His bride in this time of tribulation.
Therefore, it is also well to note the words of our Lord that He spoke unto His disciples in the gospel of Matthew 24. “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days be shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.” (Matthew 24:21-22 NKJV)
THE FIFTH SEAL
“When He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.” (Revelation 6:9-11 NKJV)
Note this time there is no living creature to say come see the opening of this seal. The apostle John saw the souls under the altar are the martyred dead in heaven. I would feel safe in saying that in the coming days that there will be many more martyred for the Lord. In this seal there is another important element that needs to be consider and that these souls ask for a judgment from the Lord. In addition, staying with the content of this seal that after the forth seal points to this factor that those who have die for the sake of Christ and His name are those who are under the altar. Let me add this thought that I believe that there will be many more martyrs in the coming days according to what the Lord states here in this seal.
Now when we consider the souls that are under the altar, I believe we need to take into this consideration that because of the judgment they ask of the Lord much have remember their persecutor on earth. You find in verse eleven where the Lord answers their request for judgment that there are those other brothers and sisters that must become martyrs. However, one might also interpret this text of scripture to mean that there must be added an additional number. This text of scripture also says that these under the altar were given white robes which to me means for their faithfulness and righteousness as the saints of the Lord God. Another point of logic that needs to be considered is this that if they were given white robes, they therefore must have a body.
THE SIXTH SEAL
“I looked when He had opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as a sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fi g tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand.” (Revelation 6:12-17 NKJV)
In the opening of this seal, here in Revelation 6:12-17, you will find that the Lord spoke of these things found in the gospel of Matthew chapter twenty-four. Not only here but also by the prophet Joel in chapter two verses as well as other prophets wrote about catastrophe events that would take place in the coming days. This seal in verse 16 I believe gives an important revelation in the opening of this seal that is clear that it is the day and time of the day of wrath from the kingdom of heaven or one might also interpret it as the great and terrible day of the Lord God Almighty. In addition, you can find many recorded revelations of the coming days in the book of Revelation. From the opening of the first seal up to the sixth seal the Lord has revealed the things that must come to past in the coming days.
I believe that the opening of this sixth seal should be a signal unto the Body of Christ that the day of destruction is at hand. For we see in verse 15 that the dread of the ungodly excite for the fear of the wrath of the Lamb to whom the saints give glory to. I state this because these individuals are struck with an overwhelming horror for their life and their souls because of the coming wrath. In addition, it is well to note that when the Lamb of God is in the wrath, I can only say that it brings out some terrible provocation, which regards the provocation of our sins that He will bring wrath upon. For if you look very closely at the words written by John of what he saw it strike terror to them that are not saved.
Yet another way of interpreting this seal and its prophetic meaning one might say that it is one of the most difficult of the seven seals to interpret. In this modern age of the Body of Christ who fined that this seal cannot be interpreted as symbolic language. It must be taken literally. To my personal understanding there are many spiritual lessons we can learn how to prepare for the coming days and the wrath of the Lamb. Furthermore, each of us as an individual person must bear in mind that the Lamb of God and His father will come to the time of wrath. In addition, I can say with all honesty that there are many preachers, teachers, evangelists, scholars, and theologians down through the centuries who have proclaimed the day of the wrath of God and the Lamb. When it comes right down to the truth of the matter when it comes to the wrath of God and the Lamb it is a sad thing to have to say, however, there are many individuals who believe that our God is so loving and kind that He will never judge people who have lived a good life without receiving God’s Son and they therefore discredit the prophetic word of this seal as well as the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
