He that overcometh
He that hath an ear

As we move into the study of the church of Thyatira again we have to consider the Lord’s evaluation of the church at Thyatira which is the most lengthy message of the seven churches. In addition, these seven messages or letters in the book of Revelation, is a helpful reminder of two things: First they are a picture that relates seven different messages that we can find in any church period recorded in church history. Furthermore, every church in the world today you will find falls into one of these churches. Secondly, the prophetic nature of these seven messages or letters. Now we found that with the church at Pergamos that it married the world, the church at Thyatira unfortunately is a church that tolerates the false prophetess and the false doctrine, being infiltrated with the world and continued to live under the compromise of the false prophetess.

In all my studies and research I have found that the spirit of Jezebel to be the most dangerous to the church today. Jesus clearly warned the church of Thyatira as well as the church to of Jezebel’s false teaching and false doctrines, however, this evil has succeeded in hiding behind the mask of control and manipulation while few recognize its deeper agenda. Therefore, most individuals do not see jezebel spirit of false teaching and doctrines which gives them a license to sin.

Furthermore, here is how it works: the spirit of Jezebel first seduces the individual into immorality and idolatry or into spiritual drunkenness or homosexuality by making them believe it is ok. After you have fallen into her trap, her doctrine eases your mind by telling yourself the past, present and future sins are already forgiven and therefore there is no need to repent. We will deal more with the fact that Jezebel would not repent Revelation 2:21.

Key words and phrase Revelation 2:18, angel, Son of God, his eyes like unto a flame, his feet like
Key thoughts A divine message, a divine vision, hearts known, hearts read, hearts searched, searcher of hearts

How do you fight the Jezebel spirit?:

1. First of all, search your heart;
2. Be not hesitant to confront it head-on;
3. Pray for exposure, to the light;
4. Pray for a Jehu anointing to come over the leaders;
5. Remember that Jezebel can only function because of Ahab (weak leaders);
6. Be aware of his/her network;
7. Be convinced that the Jezebel spirit wants to kill anything that resists its spirit,
especially the prophets;
8. Don’t underestimate its religious nature, it will burn people at the stake ‘for the faith’;
9. It can quote scripture like you wouldn’t believe;

The church of Thyatira name means:
“Continual sacrifice” the church that had a false prophetess

There is so much to be addressed with the church in Thyatira, however, first let us consider the main reason and purpose of Jesus message for this church then and how it effects the church for centuries to come. This we must understand with all seven churches the vital reason for Christ message to each of them. One vital and important factor is of what Christ states to this church is that the leaders of the church is allowing evil doctrine and teachings to be taught within the walls of the church this is contrary to God’s Word which brings about Divine wrath upon the church. However, I believe before the message sent to Thyatira, Paul wrote the warning about keeping company with those who commit sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 5:9. Paul, in addition, went on to write to the church that they should not be yoked together with non-believers or have communion with the darkness.

However, the apostle John writes in his second epistle states that those who bring or presents the doctrine of God should be according to the way they received it into the house of the Lord God 2 John 1:10. Both Paul and John were trying to warn the people of the church where there was evil association. In the same manner Jesus message to Thyatira was addressing this church about its teaching as well as its seducing spirit with Christ’s servants. It could also be put in this term that they were continuing their sinful acts of immorality which is not the work of Christ for them to do. Therefore, Jesus makes a clear statement of what will happen if they continue in this evil doctrine and seducing in their sexual immorality. We will address this later in this study.

When addressing the church at Thyatira it is well to note that it follows in a basic pattern, in addition, I have gone through these seven messages or letters and have found all have a common theme. It is message that has many good points, however, it also show a church that is engaged in compromising with error and sin, the same as Pergamos. In this church of Thyatira we will be dealing with the main factor the spirit if Jezebel and this through all of my research relates to this fact that this spirit is a strong satanic spirit of wanting control over the leaders of the church. This spirit of Jezebel shows or displays a great deal of pride, and tends to target the leadership in order to derail God’s leadership within the church and to render it unaffected. Since the Holy Scriptures is the only reliable source of instruction for understanding spiritual bondage, spiritual warfare, therefore, we can search for understanding and insight into what this spirit is doing and why it is doing it to the church then and today.

The trouble here in the church of Thyatira in the message Jesus sent was rather with this fact that the church was with the constant temptation to mingle pagan ways of life, with the teaching of Jesus, therefore, resulting in a steady decline within the church. When we consider what was taking place within the walls of the church at Thyatira and what is taking place within the walls of the churches today are we the church at Thyatira? Even yet, today I can see the amazing extent of what was taking place then is still being carried out today. The point of reasoning is within this fact that there are no hidden or secret things with the Lord’s churches then or today’s churches. In addition, it is sad to say that when we look at Christian groups and their external activities and ministries of their Christian faith while moral decay quietly grows like a cancer within their life.

Jesus Self-description of Himself
Thyatira: Son of God, hath His eyes like unto a flame of fire His feet are like fine brass

Revelation 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; KJV

Revelation 2:18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like flame of fire, and his feet are like burnished bronze; says this: NASB

Revelation 2:18 To the angel of the Messianic Community in Thyatira write: Here is the message from the Son of God, whose eyes are like a fiery flame and whose feet are like burnished brass: CJB

Revelation 2:18 To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. NIV

Revelation 2:18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write, These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: NKJV

When we consider the one who is addressing the church I believe it is well to note that this is the only time you find the title “Son of God” in the book of Revelation. You will even find those individuals who say the Jesus never called Himself the Son of God, however, you can find many places in the New Testament that states the Son of God and therefore make this statement very clear. It would be clear that this means the Lord is stressing His deity unto the church. As the Son of God the next important thing we need to consider in this text of scripture is “whose eyes are like flaming fire” (NKJV) eyes that can see through into the heart of what we are doing wrong. His feet are also important “His feet like fine brass” (NKJV) I cannot say for everyone else, however, I believe that His feet are like this because He enters into the depths of hell to trample sin under foot. Not only in the church of Thyatira also in the church today is it need for the Son of God to trample sin under His feet.

Picture this, a church or any church, if Christ addresses them saying His eyes are fixed like flame of fire. The figure of blazing eyes to my way of thinking is one who sees right through all of my thoughts that I have in my heart. In other words, Jesus is saying to the church at Thyatira I see through all your deceptions for I know thy works. Yet another way of interpreting this of what Jesus through His purity of His eyes can look throughout the world and all of its problems. A better description of Jesus here is for us to imply that Jesus as the Refiner of God’s people and this would be in reference to Malachi 3:2-3 because of their false teaching and worship of false gods.

The description of feet like fine brass would display the characteristics of God the Purifier of the soul.

Revelation 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. KJV

Revelation 2:19 I know what you are doing, your love, trust, service and perseverance. And I know that you are doing more than before. CJB

Revelation 2:19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and what you are doing more than you did at first. NIV

Revelation 2:19 I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that yours deeds of late are greater than at first. NASB

Revelation 2:19 “I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. NKJV

All that the Lord states here to Thyatira of love, service, faith, and patience is all about works. If God’s Spirit is going to work in the church then people are going to half to serve with love, faith, patience with all perseverance. In addition, all of these is a sign that you love the Lord Jesus Christ enough to be willing to serve Him. If you have faith you will overcome and understand the purpose of God’s will to control all things in your life. There was within this church many people I believe who kept all of these things the Lord commended them for.

Like the other three churches Jesus states, “I know thy works” the thing I find interesting about this church that Jesus states, “the last is more than the first.” According to this text, the first work would be the work of charity and the last would be patience. Therefore, if their patience were more than their first would it be because they were tolerating the false prophetess Jezebel. Charity means love and not like the church at Ephesus, they were doing more, however, I believe and feel that because of all of the increase of sacrifice of things unto idols and the eating of that sacrifice was going against the word of the Lord.

Revelation 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. KJV

Revelation 2:20 Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. NKJV

Revelation 2:20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond servants astray, so that they commits acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. NASB

Revelation 2:20 But I have this against you: you continue to tolerate that Izevel woman, the one who claims to be a prophet, but is teaching and deceiving my servants to commit sexual sin and eat food that has been sacrificed to idols. CJB

Revelation 2:20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and eating of food sacrificed to idols. NIV

Before, going any further with this text of scripture I believe it is well to note that over the years there has been many a good minister fall into the temptation of the spirit of Jezebel. Yes this spiritual battle still goes on today for the spirit of Jezebel is the enemy of every minister, teacher, evangelist, prophet, and apostle and this is just one of the reasons for writing this commentary regarding the seven churches. For the spirit of Jezebel will do all it can do to mislead God’s servants.

These are three vital issues or elements that every pastor or teacher needs to understand when they are teaching about the church at Thyatira. The first is you will be confronting the stronghold of the spirit of Jezebel in immense proportions. The second element is that it a way of thinking that exists unchecked in most churches in the world today. The third I believe to be the most important for you will be exposing and destroying the hiding places of the spirit of Jezebel. The spirit of Jezebel is more than sexual immorality for it is also a controlling spirit that is not of God and Christ Jesus.

To be completely honest this text of scripture the Lord makes the statement again “Nevertheless I have a few things against you,” one might interpret this as one way that the Lord reveals His disgusts in the church for tolerating the sin of false doctrine, false teachers, and prophets. First a reminder of the other three churches we now are faced with a completely different challenge that it was with Pergamos, Smyrna, and Ephesus for a number of reasons.

Now when we study this verse of scripture it is well to consider that this text could relate to the spirit of Jezebel. This spirit of Jezebel is a strong evil spirit or demonic related to witchcraft. In addition, it is a seducing spirit, controlling spirit, a spirit for creating anxiety and difficulty in relationships. Especially to those individuals which were in authority in the church. Furthermore, when you are around this spirit of Jezebel you will tend to have the feeling of being disturbed or uneasy, frayed around the edges. The spirit of Jezebel target here is on leadership through the seducing all that is susceptible. Maybe another way of stating it for your understanding is a spiritual bondage or the spirit of distortion.

Knowing the Jezebel of Thyatira or discerning the spirit of Jezebel

There are a lot of things in life that most of do not understand, in addition, there are those people who do not want to understand. What I find most interesting out within the church and world are the individuals who have the very manipulating spirit or controlling spirit of Jezebel. Do not get me wrong I am not saying that everyone is like that, however, these individuals will most likely do about anything to keep in control, or maybe a better way of saying it is to get their own way. Within the church these are the individuals who will zero in on the leaders of the church to get their way. Furthermore, this spirit at times will be almost unrecognizable. Moreover, they seem to have the spiritual gifts, and they are threatened by those leaders who have the true gifts of the Spirit of God especially those who have the gift of prophecy. My logic for making this point is this that those individuals who have the spirit of Jezebel try to find the weakest link in order to overcome or subdue them. Their main goal is to destroy the church and all that is in it or to run the church.

Another way of addressing this subject is these individuals with this evil and controlling spirit try to take advantage of some poor individual with a poor memory of the Holy Scriptures by twisting the word of the Lord Jesus and the prophetic word that has been sent by the Lord. You will find that spiritual pride is their mask because of their own poor self-esteem. One of the main gifts of the Holy Spirit is the discerning of spirits and I prayer to the Father in heaven that you will seek this gift of the Spirit that you will have the discernment need to see this spirit of Jezebel.

As the days draw nearer to the Second Coming of our Lord, our Lord by sending this message to the church in Thyatira that Jesus sent a message to teach that the world needs to remove the spirit of Jezebel out of His church. While some Christians are ignorant and even skeptical of the spirit of Jezebel and the spirits of antichrist, many Christians have become educated in some manner of what this spirit of Jezebel is all about. I will even go so far as to say I have heard and read this question when this subject is being taught: “I know I must fight the spirit of Jezebel” however what does that mean in my life and the spiritual warfare in my life.

From my own personal experiences for years before I went into the ministry and even after I would ask a question as well as many of you have ask. “I do not understand why this is happening to me?” Or I would ask this question also: “Why are they doing this to me?” It took me years to come to this important fact in my life that I will never win the battle until I get rid of all of the wrong spirits in my life. And that is what I did. However, I must also tell you that there is still a battle with spiritual warfare because the spirit of Jezebel is still dwelling in the world all around me Ephesians 6:12.

In addition, I will be stating from time to time that Jesus called Jezebel a false prophet as well as a false teacher that was leading His servants astray, she who encourage these leaders and believers to worship idols and to eat food offer for sacrifice, and to commit sexual immorality or sin. Moreover, you can find the spirit of Jezebel to be in every level of our society. I say this because this spirit can be found in your family, your work, your school, your church, virtually everywhere. This woman Jezebel claimed to have religious zeal and she calls herself a prophetess, and likes to mingle with the head leaders especially with the other leaders of the church as well.

Again this type of individual is especially dangerous because they are confident in what they are teaching about a false truth that they believe to be the deeper truth.

Let us talk about Jezebel and Babylon

The spirit of Jezebel, as well as the spirit of antichrist, they are most subtle, in depth, and lethal of all spirits in my opinion. Let us begin our study of the spirit of Jezebel more deeply by going into the book of Zechariah 5:5-11 where we read of the woman in a basket called wickedness. She was pushed back into the basket until the proper time. I believe this is the Jezebel spirit that the prophet Zechariah spoke of. She has been held back and hidden until the appointed time of these last days here in the book of Revelation. She will make her full manifestation in this last day regarding the move of Satan in the earth. In Revelation 17 the Jezebel spirit is seen as the great whore of Babylon. Babylon means confusion.

Natural Babylon is what we know as modern day world. It is the place where the Garden of Eden once existed. Also Nimrod defied God’s command to fill the earth and multiply by trying to stay in one place united. He led a rebellion against God by building a tower to reach into heaven in an attempt to dethrone God and set himself up as God. So God caused them to all speak in different dialects to force them to fulfill his command to fill the earth and multiply. Thus, the tower was called Babel and this is where Babylon gets its name. So we see that natural Babylon is a place of great rebellion. The Jezebel spirit can be summed up this simply it is the spirit of rebellion! You have not been in ministry long if you have not seen rebellion in the church!

The problem with Jezebel

The great problem in Thyatira was their tolerance of the woman Jezebel. Let me be so bold as to state that there was an enemy being harbored in the midst of their fellowship of the church. It is unclear whether “Jezebel” was the actual name of the female prophetess, or if this is a veiled reference to the Jezebel of the Old Testament, the evil queen who seduced Israel away from the worship of Yahweh into all sorts of idolatry (1Kings 16:31-33; 2Kings 9:22). We recall that in the previous letter to Pergamos reference was made to the teaching of the doctrine of “Balaam” in the Old Testament. It is common in the book of Revelation to find individuals, both present and future, being, and described using terms, figures of people from the Old Testament. It is my opinion that “Jezebel” here according to many other teaching is a figurative reference to the wicked Old Testament queen found in the book of Judges. As far as my own personal thought, we must truly consider that she was a false prophetess she was using her influence not to promote holiness and purity, but to lead God’s people astray into immorality and idolatry, just as her namesake had done in a past generation.

As we have already noted, there was immorality and idolatry associated with the festivities of the local trade guilds as they honored their various patron deities. It may be that “Jezebel” had introduced the same sort of moral and doctrinal compromise that the Nicolaitans were seeking to introduce in Ephesus (2:6) and Pergamos (2:15). We note a clear progression in three churches in terms of their ability to withstand compromise: What was resisted at Ephesus was considered in Pergamos; what was considered in Pergamos was tolerated in Thyatira. Therefore, the church of Thyatira had surpassed to the degree that surpassed the churches in her immorality.

Let me state this before we get into the depts and meaning of why Jezebel did not repent. Despite all of the good works, love, service, faith, and patience that Jesus commended the church in Thyatira Jesus also made it clear that He had a few things against them and the leadership which allowed such false teaching and doctrine stated in verse 20.

Revelation 2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. KJV

Revelation 2:21 “And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. NKJV

Revelation 2:21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. NIV

Revelation 2:21 ‘And I gave her time to repent; and she does not want to repent of her immorality. NASB

Revelation 2:21 I gave her time to turn from her sin, but she doesn’t want to repent of her immorality. CJB

One of the things this text of scripture brings out is the fact the Christ gave Jezebel a time to repent or change her ways and false teaching of sexual immorality. I do not know how long or what period of time that Christ gave, however, I believe it was long enough for Jezebel to come to her senses and repent. However, Jezebel refused to repent of her immorality or sexual sins. Therefore, the warning that I believe Jesus is telling us that we do not know how long before to repent of our sins and spiritual adultery.

Some will argue that the spirit of Jezebel does not exist for it is not found in the scriptures and specifically named. However, it is truly clear of the Satanic and demonic force which was influencing the church in Thyatira and the woman who called herself a prophetess and in the Old Testament Queen Jezebel. Furthermore, a deep study of the Holy Scriptures shows the influence of this wicked spirit running from the book of Genesis through to the book of Revelation. As I researched the one book that I found to bring out a true reality of this spirit was titled “Unmasking the Spirit of Jezebel”.

I believe it would be safe in stating that this spirit of Jezebel has been around for thousands of years to deceive or seduced God’s servants, to be part of a false doctrine and false teaching that God’s grace and mercy is not sufficient that we need to repent. However, I must state the Holy Scriptures are very clear that we need to repent and confess our sins, and the Lord God will be faithful to forgive them. Therefore, when we sin we need to repent in order to keep our intimate relationship with God and Christ Jesus. Remember that the devil uses the scriptures as his trick to pervert the Holy Word of God as he tempted Jesus in the wilderness Matthew 4:1-11.

Much of the same tricks are being used today for twisting the scriptures which is the work of Satan and the seducing spirit of Jezebel to commit sexual immorality or spiritual adultery. Jezebel lead the leaders as well as the people to believe to fornicate if you love one another and that it does not violate the spiritual law of the New Covenant or the commandments that Jesus gave to us John 13:34.

When we face the plain truth about Jezebel she did not repent nor do I believe that she wanted to. Furthermore, I want to state in no uncertain terms, that it is dangerous to sit under the wrong teaching. The wrong teaching of the word of God can more readily lead you into the tricks of Satan. In addition, more false preaching and teaching are sending more people to hell more than all of the drug abuse and sexual abuse combined. Furthermore, I would feel safe in saying that the spirit of Jezebel has a multitude of blind, misled Christians are singing and praising the Lord in churches, enslaved by false doctrine. Moreover, I further believe that there are thousands who are sitting under teachers who are pouring out the spirit of Jezebel and they are proclaiming and stating “wasn’t that a wonderful teaching.”

Revelation 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. KJV

Revelation 2:22 So I am throwing her into a sickbed; and those who commit adultery with her I am throwing into great trouble, unless they turn from the sins connected with what she does; CJB

Revelation 2:22 ‘Behold I will cast her upon a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. NASB

Revelation 2:22 “Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. NKJV

Revelation 2:22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. NIV

As we study about this prophetess it is well to note in this verse of scripture that we consider each of these translations carefully at the message Jesus is sending the church then as well as the church today of what He will do. The very first thing that I see is that our Lord did not overlook Jezebel’s deeds of immorality and therefore, He was going to discipline her unless she repented.

Revelation 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. KJV

Revelation 2:23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and will repay each according to your deeds. NIV

Revelation 2:23 and I will strike her children dead! Then all of the Messianic Communities will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and that I will give to each of you what you deserve. CJB

Revelation 2:23 ‘And I will kill her children with pestilence; and all the churches will know I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each according to your deeds. NASB

Revelation 2:23 “I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. NKJV

Each of these translations of the Holy Scriptures brings out the true meaning of Jezebel reluctance to heed to the words of our Lord. Furthermore, I believe that Jezebel is fully aware of her actions and purpose to destroy the church.

Revelation 2:24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. KJV

Revelation 2:24 Now to you I say and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. NKJV

Revelation 2:24 Now I say to the rest of Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you):

Revelation 2:24 ‘But I say to you, the rest of Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them – I place no other burden on you. NASB

Revelation 2:24 But to the rest of you in Thyatira, to those who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some people call the ‘deep things of the Aversary, I say this: I am not loading you up with other burden; CJB

When Jesus states “the rest of you” what do you think of? As a student of the Holy Scriptures it should mean that Jesus is referring to the rest of the congregation in the church of Thyatira or the faithful people in the church.

Revelation 2:25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. KJV

Revelation 2:25 Only hold fast to what you have until I come. CJB

Revelation 2:25 ‘Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come. NASB

Revelation 2:25 Only hold on to what you have until I Come. NIV

Revelation 2:25 “But hold fast what you have till I come. NKJV

Looking at the Promise 2:26-27

The reward for the faithfulness was the privilege of reigning with Christ in His earthly kingdom; consider these scriptures Revelation 1:6, 12:5, 19:15,; Ps 2:8-9; 2 Tim 2:12; Rev 20:4-6. As with the other promises to the other churches, this one is not only a challenge, however, it also is quite different from the other promises.

Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: KJV

Revelation 2:26 “And he who overcomes and keeps My works until the end, of him I will give power over the nations- NKJV

Revelation 2:26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations- NIV

Revelation 2:26 ‘And he who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over nations; NASB

Revelation 2:26 To him who wins the victory and does what I want until the goal is reached, I will give him authority over the nations; CJB

Here Jesus gives the church of Thyatira a challenge to them that overcome. Jesus promises that those who overcome and keep His works unto the end will be given the responsibility or position of judgment over nations. Moreover, the Lord shows with the prospect that this promise of blessing to motivate not only the Christian but the unfaithful in the church to return to God, will for them and to encourage others to be faithful and persevere the works of Christ.

Revelation 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. KJV

Revelation 2:27 He will rule them with a staff of iron and dash them to pieces like pottery, CJB

Revelation 2:27 ‘And shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as also have received authority from My Father; NASB

Revelation 2:27 He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery – Just as I have received authority from my Father. NIV

Revelation 2:27 He shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessel’s- as I also have received from My Father; NKJV

In verses 26 and 27 it is well to note that their rule will not simply that of executing judgment, however, also that of administering mercy and direction to them that are sheep in contrast to the goats. (Matthew 25:31-46) Believers or Christians who are faithful will receive power, rule, and authority in heaven from Jesus Christ and will “rule” consider these scripture reference to, Luke 19:11-27; 1 Cor 6:2-3; 2 Tim 2:12; Rev 3:21. While not all Christians or believers will remain faithful to God and the Lord Jesus Christ 2 Timothy 2:12, Jesus evidently describes believers or Christians as faithful to motivate them to remain faithful.

Revelation 2:28 And I will give him the morning star. KJV

Revelation 2:28 “and I will give him the morning star. NKJV

Revelation 2:28 I will also give him the morning star. NIV

Revelation 2:28 and I will give him the morning star NASB

Revelation 2:28 just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star. CJB

I see this text as Christ as the light unto the world.

Revelation 2:29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. KJV

Revelation 2:29 Those who have ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to the Messianic Communities.’’’ CJB

Revelation 2:29 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. NASB

Revelation 2:29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” NKJV
